Forums - Sales Discussion - Recore only sold 56,733 units in its first week.

Wow, that is abysmal... :/

I'm not sure why this game even exists. Looks like the sort of game that would do ok on handheld. Certainly not on console even if it was a arcade title.

Damn thats horrible. Guess its up to Yooka Laylee to bring back the resurgence of platformers.

Yea but I doubt a game like ReCore would have ever gotten that. Cause if we thought it could, then we would be talking about great sales instead of decent.

No doubt it wouldn't sell as much as  your average AAA blockbuster but i feel like this  game barely had any marketing besides showing it at conferences(which are not watched by mainstream audiences that much)

Thats true but thats why it needed a great score. If it had a great score, I think word of mouth would have made it sell a lot better than it did currently. You can check my comments previously but I was gonna buy this game asap until I saw its review score.

High praise itself can also be marketing and they certainly could have boasted about it if it had those review scores.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It's also a PC game, so those sales figures could mean anything. I wouldn't be surprised if it sold more digitally than physically. I do agree that sales figures probably would have been better if reviews had been more positive. Even i was originally planning on picking it up at launch, but now I'll just wait until it's 10-15$.

Not just platformers, those there are actually many of.

But a 3D collectathon styled Platformer :) those are rare.

I expect Yooka Laylee to do well, because its a genre thats sees to few games and theres gotta be alot of people just itching to get their hands on one again.

I honestly dont think reviewers give scores based on costs. Not sure if they should either.

Its up to the consumer if they want to buy a game at certain costs.

To be honest, the issues people were having were the same issues that people have with Bethesda games that somehow garner high reviews despite having a lot of glitches and long loading times. Things easily passed off because it was a known fact Bethesda would fix the problem.

Except that bugs in a game the size of bethesda one are quite different from this one and the ignoring the bugs are more due to the love they have for the content, which doesn't see to have happened on this

Damn that sucks. It got a big push from Microsoft the last 2 e3's but I never felt the hype. The sales back that up.

I think that's pretty good, it was developed AS a budget game, I'd assume that they made back the budget already with this first week of sales. Lets also not forget this game was definitely sold more on the digital side with the price and promo on the Xbox/Windows store as a "Play anywhere" title.

However, I think this is in line with Microsofts sales expectations.

Getting their budget on 56k units sold? I don't think that is even closely possible to being real.
