Pretty sure a lot of the GT fanboys disappeared in the mass Sony cull. Maybe try VisionEck.

When was this? No aggro.

Lol I don't really remember when or what happened. All I know is some Sony fans had issues with the mods and ended up leaving us for that forum. Some were banned when it happened but there's some people over in VizionEck that still frequent this site too.

Still don't know why EA isn't making Burnout games anymore. Other than that yeah they're not that popular anymore, but still damn good.

Wait what? I dont like sports games in general but calling them "not central" to gaming is a bit of an oversimplification IMO. They always acted like a bridge between people who like sports but still dont get games, but who could still potentially become gamers. I convinced a good amount of people to buy a PS or a gaming rig troughout the years by dangling the genre as a carrot in front of them. Now one of them is a huge Persona fan and cannot wait for 5

Here is some depressing news for F-Zero fans:
Redout was released a couple of days ago on Steam.
Great reviews but only a couple of thousands bought it yet.

Price: $31.49
Score rank: 87% Userscore: 93%
Owners: 1,694 ± 1,046

It seems sales are picking up or maybe I'm reading it wrong.
I'm waiting for a console release. I'm not meeting the recommended specs and in a game like this locked 60 fps is a must.

Wow, thanks for this didn't know about this game. Looks fantastic I'll definitely look at picking it up sometime!

TotalBiscuit made a vid about it which is where I found out about it. Was totally sold until I saw the price, waiting for at least sub $20

I miss new racing games like FlatOut 2 and Dirt 2, modern games seem to have gone in more realism and social direction.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Still a central gaming genre imo.

I think now, finally, the racing genre gets the attention it deserves, because to me it always felt like a niche genre. I kind of liked racing games like Forza and GT, but I always got bored after less than an hour.

They used to be more central for gaming back when arcade racers like Daytona, Ridge Racer, and Cruis'n USA were testing grounds for console makers. Racing games were a good way to show off graphics and speed. Now the market is either Mario Kart or hard sims like GT and Forza. I think people get their driving itch scratched in games like GTA where driving is only one aspect of the game.

Madden and Fifa are big sports franchises, the only racing game that gets big sales like them are the Gran Turismo games. So no, I don't think racing is a vital genre anymore. I mean even GT has declined from it's consistent 10+ million numbers.
