Are racing games now in the same category as Fifa or Madden? Or still central to gaming?

Madden and Fifa are big sports franchises, the only racing game that gets big sales like them are the Gran Turismo games. So no, I don't think racing is a vital genre anymore. I mean even GT has declined from it's consistent 10+ million numbers.
