Home is going to do nothing. It's going to do as much as one other game on the system.

Apparently Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid are both comming to the Xbox 360. Another slap in the face for Sony. |
Stop spouting nonsense. I'm pretty convinced you don't actually own a PS3 like you claim to. Nothing else explains these posts as a whole you keep launching for no reason. You have this 360 VS PS3 thread when you have an avatar for Halo, then you flat out lie.
Very good post a.l.e.x59. One of your better ones IMO. Of course, it is also one that has been talked to death before and will continue to be talked to death in the future.
I could post my opinion, but it would just be re-stating alot of the thoughts already discussed.
However, I will agree about Home. It just isnt going to move consoles. If I am a casual gamer, I am not going to spend $600 dollars JUST for Home. It is a very nice addition to the PS3, and one that will be very popular. Serves as another reason why I would consider getting a PS3, not the ONLY reason.

I agre totally however Japan Xbox360 has picked up a lot more then I expected it too. If Microsoft could get more Japanese support they could pick it up even more. The xbox360 has sold almost as much(if not more) in the 1 and 1/2 years then the original had in 5 years. That's a large growth, but not enough. ... |
erm, I don't know why people keep saying this, since it is wrong. Not only has the 360 not quite outsold the original Xbox in Japan yet, but it is actually BEHIND where the Xbox was at this point in its history. proof:
of course, it's selling much more per week than the original and will soon overtake it, and in a few months I'm sure you could say that, but I'm hearing this a lot and it's just not true (yet)
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I'm almost positive the 360 will pass the Xbox when Forza launches, maybe a week later. It's not far behind. It will definitely blow far past it when Trusty Bell launches.
I think that it will eclipse lifetime Xbox sales sometime in October or November.

It's true, at this point in 360's life, the original X-box did sell more. The pacing is the difference. The original X-box was selling less than 1,000 a week on average, while the 360 is hovering in the 2k-3k range, which spikes when good software is released. I think it is very reasonable that the 360 will pass the X-box by the end of the year due to releases of Trusty Bell this summer and Lost Odyssey during the holiday season.

It's not like he is obligated to remain console-neutral despite owning both (or all three).
Hell, plenty of people own more than one console but still they have their preferences.
What exactly is it about his posts that make you claim he is a liar?

How about the one I just quoted, as a start. His "analysis" is very uneven.

Gran Turismo > Forza (by far. I have never even heard of Forza) Halo > Killzone (Killzone sucked) Final Fantasy > Blue Dragon, Lost Odysse (Final Fantasy is way better) Splinter Cell = Metal Gear Solid (both are equally as good) Dead of Alive = Tekken (both are descent) All of these games are okay. Except Halo and Metal Gear Solid. Those are outstanding games. Gran Turismo is just your ordinary racing game. |
The only games on either list that can realistically make a dent in hardware sales is FF, Halo & MSG (the last 2 limited to US however). The other games, good or not, are not "must haves" for anyone because they are either unknown or because of their genre. Fighting games for example, are generally thought of as supplimental. It really doesnt matter which one you have because they are only really fun with others to play with, thus it doesnt matter if you get DoA, Tekken or Street Fight II. There will not be many people who will buy a new console just for one of the fighting games but they may buy a fighting game for the console they already own. The same can be said for the biggest games like EA's Madden. If you own an 360, you are not going to get a PS3 to play Madden even if it is slightly better. You will simply buy the version for whatever console you own.
Forza is actually leaps and bounds better than Gran Turismo but they also fall under the optional flag for most gamers.
FF has been known to swing console sales (I myself baught a PS2 just to play and be disappointed by FFX). Halo & MGS are only insanely popular in the US. Not so much anywhere else but they do sell consoles especially MGS.
The average console gamer falls loosly under one of the 3 "console moving" categories. RPGer, FPSer, or Sports fan but the sports gamer usually doesnt care one way or another about what system they play on since the games and their ports are so similar. This brings it down to the RPGer (Japan) and FPSer (US) which is reflected by console sales historically.
360 (lots of good FPS) > PS3 (lots of RPG roots) in the US.
PS3 (lots of RPG roots) > 360 (lots of good FPS) in Japan.
Saturn (heavy RPG support) > PS in Japan for a while at least till it died.
PS > Saturn in the US where it failed miserably.
MMORPG's are huge in Asia but less in the US even taking WoW into consideration.
Counter Strike was huge in the US but less so in Asia.
The 360 is trying to gain market in Japan, but its close to impossible to get 3rd party support with less than 500k consoles sold. PS3 has the advantage of a solid history of sales across the globe so 3rd parties will be less nervous programming for them. Without Japan, the 360 will overtime be overtaken by the PS3, not because one is better than the other but because of lack of support in Japan while the PS has total global support although... the PS3 will need a huge a price drop to make it affordable. No console is worth $600 clams... hell I wouldnt even pay $300 but thats just me. The insane price tags as stunted the growth of both the 360 and PS3 and has actually allowed Nintendo to take the lead. Kind of ironic imho. In their effort to kill each other, they allowed the underdog to creep up and its probably costing them both. Wouldnt surprise me if they worked together next gen to eliminate Nintendo (common MS & Sony tactic historically).
