Forums - Nintendo - My firend stole 4 of my amiibos UPDATE 1.0

Back in high school, a dude from my class stole my Blue Eyes White Dragon (it had my mark on the back). I confronted the dick, he refused to owe up and give it back. So I just bullied the fucker until he gave it back.

Just confront him, a real friend will return the stuff or at the very least apologize.

Wow, that's kind of you. Maybe VERY kind. I'd had erase him from my "friend-list" as soon as I noticed that. I had a similar experience. My best friend was living with another person in a flat. One night my friend and I went out to drink some beers. Next day, when I woke up, my 3DS with a Zelda game that I carried with me was gone. Hangover+stolen 3DS = Punch his partner in the face. But, my friend thought that I overreacted and maybe that 3DS was only missing (I was sure it was stolen...). Three months later, my friend "missed" Bayo 1/Mario Kart 8/Smash Bros/Deus Ex: Human Revolution and one amiibo.

What I'm trying to say is, talk to him, if you're not the "impulsive" type of person, but if you fix this, keep an eye on him. If you're too soft maybe he will steal you more amiibos/games when you're distracted. I would have punch him, but I understand there are people who solves these things in a different way. Just be careful.

You could even bring it up indirectly by playing a game and then start to look for one of the missing characters, or have your wife look for it and then let her tell you off cuz shit keeps going missing in the house. You can then both watch him and observe how he reacts.

The other important thing mentioned by some others here is what your friends financial status is like. Is he on drugs, does he have an alcohol problem, is he out of a job...? If he is having financial problems, maybe a group of friends need to speak to him and see if you can help him. However, if this is something he just does then I would think twice about having him as a friend. From my experience, people who start stealing small, often get more confident and start stealing more.

Eitherway, if that was my friend, I would create a scenario whereby a group of us might be together and I would for example bring up having the best AMIIBO collection or something and then say "shit, 4 of them have gone missing." then have other friends who have had shit stolen do the same. If your friend is intelligent enough he will know he has been caught and from there it is up to you if you wish to keep having him over or to just slowly cut ties.

It's a difficult one and I had this situation. My friend was nicking rare collectible DVDs from me. Whenever he then asked to pop over I would just say let's go out instead or let's go to yours etc. In the meantime I moved all my collectible stuff and video games to my bedroom so when he did come over he had zero access to it. From there, it was my friend who actually cut the ties. I found out he found a new guy to chill with and he apparently got caught there to, but there he lucked out as the guy made him sell his cellphone and buy back all the things he took. He used a hidden nanycam and caught him in the act.

Quick question. Does he sell them to the Hot Pop and can I buy them from the Hot Pop?

I want to give some advice but every situation is different (well, not really....) try some passive aggressive BS like "Man, I'm missing some stuff. If I don't find them, I'm just going to quit having people come over. Can't believe this keeps happening!" Maybe the things will miraculously appear.

The only people I've ever come across who steal from people they know have also had drug problems. Any idea if he's got some sort of vice like that?

I have a pretty good judge of character and haven't dealt with your specific scenario before, but in your situation I would bluntly bring it up and study his expressions when he responds. If there's no sign of guilt regardless of the answer, show him the door. Pick his brain a bit and see what the cause is. Generosity might be a dying trait that few have left, but that's partially for good reason - how do you plan to be a boss when others are taking advantage of you? Know when and where to put your foot down.

Confront him and if he denies it then punch him and report him to the authorities. Maybe that will teach him stealing is stupid

So, he steals from your friend, you know about it, but you still keep inviting him over?
I say you deserve what you got, next time don't have thieves for friends and you'll have one thing less to worry about.

Do you also visit him? Try scoping out his place for the items, maybe even steal them back and see what is said.

Otherwise the direct approach will lead to an outcome quicker. But if your allegations are denied, then you will be at an impasse.

If you still want him in your life, but he denies stealing, then instead of cutting ties perhaps reevaluate the boundaries of your friendship. Restrict meeting in neutral places, or only at his place etc. and keep your belongings safe.

Sure it's only a couple of $15 figures. But in a sense, having something so trivial stolen from you is even worse, as it is such a meaningless item to jeapardise a friendship over.

Dont invite him over cut all ties get another friend who comes over drinks beer and plays videogames with you. Shouldnt be that hard. Confront him first tell him he stole your games and tell him to go fuck himself and you dont want to see him ever again. Proceed to delete his contacts out of your phone and other Social devIces.
