Wii U got late ports of games. Of course they sold horribly. Most people already had the game on the 360 or PS3.

Both COD games were recieved on time if I'm not mistaken.

Black Ops 2 was a week late in the US and two weeks late in Europe since that is when the Wii U came out.  Ghosts was on time.

Also while the PS3/360 had sold more than 50% of their lifetime totals (in regards to "most people") by the time the Wii U version of BO2 was available worldwide, there were still many millions of copies sold after the Wii U version came out.  I mean the week after the Wii U launch in the US alone, just the 360 version sold more than double the worldwide sales of BO2 Wii U.  Now I'm not saying the Wii U version should have been anywhere close to the 360 version in sales, but it is silly for Paatar to act like everyone already having purchased BO2 was the reason for the poor sales on the Wii U.

I would say Ghosts sales both on the Wii U and the PS4/XBO kind of showed how ridiculous this "late port" argument is.  Being a simultaneous release did little for the Wii U version, while the late ports on the PS4 and Xbox One completely smashed the sales of the Wii U version.

This.

It shows the truth -- Sony/MS have a virtual monopoly over the audience for those types of big-market/dudebros appeal titles.

If I was interested in those games I wouldn't buy the Wii U version even if it was feature parity with other versions just because the online community for the PS/XB versions is so much bigger too.

I like Nintendo but I'm not compromising my play experience for their sake.

If it does come to Wii U and has Wiimote + Nunchuk support, I will buy it. I'm not holding my breath though, and I wouldn't buy it for any other platform.

Regarding a theoretical Vita version, it should be kept in mind that porting the game to Vita would be a more expensive undertaking than porting it to Wii U, as it would require far more re-engineering, more akin to how the Wii versions of COD last gen had to be effectively deconstructed and rebuilt.

My heart just skipped a beat of joy when I saw this

A Wii U version would be neat. I put an absolute shit ton of playtime into COD4 Reflex edition on the Wii. I was a member of a very dedicated community that still exists to this day. I honestly liked COD with the WiiMote.

I don't recall ever saying that a wii u version would outperform a psvita version (although it probably would), only that a non exclusive game would have sold far less. 870k isn't more than any 3rd party effort on wii u and need for speed is a different game, we're talking cod.

So sales from other big multiplatform franchises can't be used to inform us on what COD will do on PSVita? If a 2 years late port of Borderlands 2 could do 400k and a multiplatform Need for Speed could manage 800k (all far more then what any COD on wii u achieved), A multiplatform COD on Vita would surely be do more. I'll leave it there though becuase clearly you're not using any empiracle evidence to inform your opinion.

You are the one using other unrelated games as comparison with cod. I could argue that other multiplats did much better than cod on wii u, but just like your examples, the don't relate. what we know is that an exclusive cod sold 1.2 million on vita, so a multi would sell less.

Actually I think if the COD on Vita was a multiplat port (just downsized graphically) ... it would've sold more, not less. The "custom" version to Vita got was pure crap, lol.

The problem with multiplats on a Nintendo console is even most Nintendo fans who would be interested in something like COD or Watch Dogs have learned over the years that you have to buy a Sony/MS console to get third party content, so they buy those games on those platforms even if they have a Wii U.

On the Vita at least there's the novelty of portability.

Please, only speak for yourself.

Indeed. I've quite enjoyed the 3rd party offerings on Wii U and will continue to purchase them.
