I agree with him but even in a few years when the technology is finally there to make it happen, will the games be ready for it?
Sure, VR will be awesome for some games like FPS and racing games, but what about the other genres? How will it be to play a third person shooter, an adventure game, a RPG or a platformer with those headsets?

Sure, many genre's won't be able to use the head tracking and motion elements of VR. But the thing VR gives to every single game, potetnially, is full field of vision.
The other thing VR does for every game is lets you free up the TV without having to compromise and play on a smaller screen and possibly looking at the screen at a less comfortable angle. If my family wants to watch a movie then my only option right now is to continue playing on my Z3 using remote play. If I ever get a VR headset (unlikely) then I can play on a second screen and get as good or better visual experience than on my main TV.
VR can also be good for Co-op play without having to use splitscreen, or in the case of single screen (like Diablo) it will allow completely free roaming. At the moment second screen options (tablets, Wii U game pads and PSV) all mean a visual and screen position compromise. Potentially with VR the person who draws the short straw with Co-op will be the one stuck with having to use the TV.
VR interests me, but I'm not convinced it's worth the investment. And I suspect that's where a lot of people are at. Companies looking to commercialise home VR for entertainment still need to sell me on the idea. A head set will be a minimum of $300 here, probably more. I don't see any justification for spending that much.
