I'm a PS4 gamer and I echo what other people have said here. It just seems like a step back when you look at the collection on the PS3, and then compare it to this remake. No doubt for such a big anniversary you'd expect a lower price point; or a re-release of the collection; or perhaps something new even. But this to me feels like releasing the game for the sake of releasing the game, and trying to make as much from it as possible.

Hope I'm wrong but that's how it looks to me from here. And fans of the series have every right to be a little aggrieved by that. If you're happy wth it fine, I hope you enjoy it. But I doubt I'll be picking it up and that's not a major problem.

Changed the title so it's a bit less "line in the sand". As this thread have shown, there are many PS4 owners who don't necessarily agree with the decision. And I'm sure there's plenty of non-PS4 owners who are okay with the decision.

It doesn't have to be us versus them folks. The game is coming out whether you like it or not, and we're only here to talk about our thoughts on the game and how it's being released.

Haven't you heard, it's better to have months after months without games that having something to play in the summer until the bigger hitters gets released like MGS PP which is expected to released on September. But since it's not an exclusive, this equal to having no games.

I think this might also have to do with building up hype for the next GoW game honestly. There's a strategy behind this as they've done with everything else thus far, and considering that... what was it, 50%? of the current userbase switched over from a non Sony platform it serves a dual purpose in drawing in new customers as well as preparing us for what comes next. With the speculation that we'll see Kratos branch into other mythologies such as Egyptian or Nordic gods, the context of when this is all happening starts to make sense.

God of War IV to be the next AAA game?

Yes, its building up hype, but if they wanted to give people new to sony consoles a introduction to the franchise, why start with the third in the trilogy? Sounds like the GoWIV would be a better point of entry for people who haven't played the previous installments.

I think you are 100% correct.

All signs point to GoW IV being a big E3 reveal. And GOWIII:R coming out in July will help to garner excitement for the game (guessing holiday season release).

Again, my complaint isn't the game releasing per se, it's the price/lack of content  compared to previous GoW collections and their prices. Regardless, I think it's a great move to get the hype going and for those who are new Sony fans to get into the series before the IV hits the market.

I have a problem with ALL remasters. I bitched about the OOT remaster. I bitched about the WW remaster. I bitched about the LOU remaster... I just think the whole idea of selling the same game twice is a terrible waste of time and resources and only has ONE objective... to make money.

Having grown up during the 8 and 16 bit era, rarely if ever did we have a remake or remaster. If we did, most of us would have ignored the damn thing and it would have ended up in the bargain bin for $9.99 a few months later. I want NEW games, with NEW tech and NEW story lines. I don't want FFX or GOW3... I want FF15 and GOW4.

The only reason for remasters is to make money. The story has been told. The creators vision is finished. They've moved on. There is no artistic integrity left in the project. It's JUST a money grab.

(and PS NOW is horrible for God of war because the first one you can play with the subscription model but the second one is not covered and you have to rent individually).

I don't own a PS4, but my reasoning for hating this is there are too many remastered games. WAY TOO MANY. It's BS at this point.

The lack of backwards compatibility is a bit more complex than that and think of it like this, backwards compatibility is just a port of the old games to the new systems, remastered games actually make some improvements.

I fully agree that they should have done the collection and not just one game.
