wow what an impressive list of......whatever some of it is.

I normally don't buy remastered games especially if the original is from the previous gen. I don't mind remasters from further than the previous gen. Like a remastered suikoden III or something.

They are amazing. We should upgrade to new consoles just to keep playing the same games.

Has a previously nintendo-only guy played all these games? Has an xbox 360 guy played GOW3? TLOU?

I find that point fairly silly. First of all, they are giving us the third game in the trilogy. If they were giving us all three, then I would start to understand that perspective. Either way, you are throwing players into the middle of a story, and logically it would seem that GOW4 would be a better entry point anyways as it will likely start a new story.

Also, you are just compounding the problems that many gamers have with the lack of Backwards compatibility and squeezing more money out of them in what feels like a very anti-consumer fashion.

Additionally, every exclusive game ever would suffer the same fate. If you want to play the game, get a console that can play the game. We as gamers shouldn't be treated like we have a one week attention span and an inability to buy anything that came out more than a month ago. If we really want the game, we can get it for another console. If not, well then I guess we didn't really want the game....

It just feels like padding in a schedule, providing old experiences on new consoles, where a lot of gamers are currently crying out for new experiences.

So you want new games...but clearly dismissive of these new games, despite being new...?

Im a collector. I like physical copies. How many of those will get a physical release?

Perhaps it affects the perspective of the console belonging to those who think the library is lacking in new experiences. Chances are that the person has already played this game and so, is not interest in this game. Thus, it's underwhelming that the big summer release is only, potentially a remaster.

From the business side, it's not a bad thing. The remaster will sell and it's sure to have a higher profit margin compared to a new game built from the ground up with similar sales. Also, the remasters are targeted to those who would be interested in them, given reasons such as never having played them, they are collectors, or they no longer have access to them.

However, it's not a situation where one can simply say, "well if you are not interested in the remaster, then don't buy it and move along" since it may affect the subject in the sense that the provider is not offering a new experience in favor of said remaster(s). Thus, in the business sense it is not a bad idea and for the gamer it depends where you stand. If we are to weigh this, then remasters are perhaps generally a good thing.

Backward compatability would bump the price of a console by 100-150, you'd have to have ps3's cell architecture + x86, so a bigger sized console which consumes more power despite not even using most of it half the time. Because PS4 isnt that significant of a jump to emulate last gen games.

New experiences?
Sony published new ip's for ps4
Knack
Doki-Doki
Resogun

Hohokum
Bloodborne
The order 1886
Until Dawn
Hell Divers

Whats wrong with having new ip's, existing titles in franchises and remasters? Remasters sell consoles, good for gamers. Remasters give more money to the dev, good for gamers. At the end of the day, we still choose whether we wanna buy a remaster or not. If millions of people are buying remasters, naturally there is a demand for ps3-gen games on ps4. If it gets to the point where the majority of people dont want remasters, they wont buy it. Then comapnies will stop making..

There is nothing wrong with remasters. What's ridiculous in 2015 is the lack of backwards-compatibility which makes a brand new remaster the only way to play a game released just a few years ago. But of course if new console owners had the option of simply playing the original version, it might harm the sales of our remaster that would have been completely unnecessary under those circumstances anyway.

Well thats another issue and unrelated. Me personally, i like digital. But it's undeniable there is a healthy list of new gen original ip's.
