I've never really cared for the C-Stick, so I can't really say that I want it to come back!

I want a C-Stick back on my controller, for sure, with one exception. I want a snap on that turns the C-Stick into a proper analog. It might be a pain in the ass, but I feel like it would be worth it for those situation where a C-Stick really excels. Using it in action games for assigned skills, hell it would even open up options for usage in RPG's and other ways.
I guess the main issue with having a C-Stick on your controller is the fact that you have to dedicate the games design to its use. If you choose to use the C-Stick as something other than camera control, than you have to figure out a way for the player to control the game without a second analog, which has pretty much become standard.

The "c" in c-stick stands for camera, so the above is redundant.

Hey that makes sence. I always figured the 'c' in 'c-stick' was because of the N64's c-buttons, which were in turn called as such because 'c' comes after button 'a' and 'b' and bridged the gap between those and the 'd' from 'd-pad' (I know that stands for 'directional' of course). With the 'c' actually standing for 'camera', that just makes all that one giant coincidence.

Lol yeah, they were called c-buttons because they were camera buttons lol for the 3D camera. That's why they were all one letter, one color, and had directions instead of following the XY precident from the Super Nintento. They would have just called them CDXY buttons instead.

Same reason the trigger button was called Z. It's for the Z axis. As in 3D.

NO!!!! It completely sucked! I replaced all my Gamecube/Hori controller's C-Sticks with the standard analog stick. So much better.

Lol I'm having the biggest epiphany right now.

I probably don't have to explain that "Gamepad" isn't just a play of iPad, but also a redundant play off the fact that the catagorical name for a standard controller is "gamepad." The same way a video game system is called a console. So like the DS4, Wavebird, CCP, and the Gamepad are all technically "gamepads."

No, I despised the C Stick on the GC controller

I dunno, a new IP from Nintendo that was similar to Diablo or Baulders Gate could take perfect advantage of a C-Stick. Tons of options for extra control and stuff. I keep thinking of playing one of those games with a GCN controller and loving the idea. A dungeon crawler with a fixed camera or a camera controlled only by one stick, could be awesome.

It doesn't matter what the C in C-stick stands for. What matters are its functions, and that I made a clear distinction between the two.
And everyone knows the difference. One has fully analog any-direction camera control, and the other is a stick placed on top of 4 button.
Controlling a camera with only 4 buttons, and controlling it with a 360 degree analog stick is quite different.
The square button on PS1 and PS2 are refered to by the same name, but one is pressure sensitive, and the other isn't.

Talking about redundency, making a post to just point and laugh without explaining, making me ask for a clarification (because I honestly didn't think you'd get into semantics over names of all things), then get another reply, and then reply to that, is pretty redundant if anything.

What I call them doesn't matter as long as I make a clear distinction between them. Which I did.

They aren't refered to by the same name. One is a c-stick and one is an analog stick. No one calls it the camera stick. It's commonly called the right analog stick. Of course I knew what you were talking about, but it was redundant, and I was making a harmless quip at that redundancy. Notice how I'm not addressing the point you were making about the c-stick. I don't care about the semantics of button naming. I was literally making a light joke about your word choice. I wasn't criticizing you.

I didn't make you ask to clarify anything. I made it extremely clear. I bolded what I was referancing and used concise words. It didn't need an explanation. You're the one who didn't inderstand it. And that's not redundancy. That's not what the word means.

You're getting worked up over a lighthearted jab at weird wording. Relax.

"I hope you realize how redundant that was, lol."

"Haha, true."

That's how the conversation should have went.
