A toy can be: "something that an adult buys or uses for enjoyment or entertainment" but not all things an adult buys or uses for enjoyment/entertainment are toys, i.e. an adult can buy a gun for enjoyment/entertainment, in a lot of countries you can  buy a woman for enjoyment/entertainment, some people buy drugs for enjoyment/entertainment, does it make all of these things toys???

What you were reading is: " a toy car is made of metal & plastic, therfore all things made of metal & plastic are toy cars", which is not what the definition means.

I would have called the original Game boy a toy but nowadays consoles have more uses than just playing games so I'd call them entertainment devices rather than just toys

Yes but their primary function is to be a toy. When you speak of an iPhone, you call it a telephone despite it having, gaming, camera, internet, geolocalisation... functions because its primary function is be to be a telephone, sames as today cars which have internet, phone, consoles, blu-ray players, they are primarly cars!

Game consoles have evolved to be entertainment devices primarily, honestly I spend more time watching Netflix and Hulu on my primary console than I do playing games on it.
