Not useful for what a Beta is originally intended to do, finding and fixing bugs, of course marketting is a positive, but then again, wouldn't it be a better idea to not have temporary bugs or glitches put a bad taste in the mouths of people? You're assuming there are any glitches, which I saw none of at E3. The game already was running so smoothly and has it's core gameplay mechanics down, and that was over 6 months ago. I guess I shouldn't call it a beta though since what I'm imagining would be just like with Uncharted 3, an online multiplayer demo 2-3 weeks before the game releases.
