No.. I don't like public betas anyway and it just doesn't fit Nintendo.

Whut? That's basically what a Beta is and does! Can't really have an online multiplayer demo that runs past the release date as then it'd basically become a free2play game.

Beta's are done to discover bugs and faults in an unfinished game, demo's are designed to introduce people to the game concept and convince them to purchase the full product, they are very different.
I don't think they should do a public beta, but instead as mentioned, release a multiplayer demo, preferably one that carries over progress.

w8 what? open betas are just marketing... it is not realy usefull because to many idiots take the free stuff, that makes it hard to get good feedback. the only usefull betas are closed betas without giveaway keys

I was thinking of the thing Sony did with Uncharted 3, making the online multiplayer playable a month before release, which of course meant the game was done already so it wasn't for testing purposes, but I thought it was still called a Beta anyway, or my memory is just bad. =/
Would be cool, but I don't see Nintendo doing something like multiplayer beta tests.
I'd love to be proven wrong though.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I agree, open beta's are just marketting and not really usefull, so instead of doing a public beta, keep it in house, fix the bugs and release a free multiplayer demo alongside the main game.

Not useful? Marketing is exactly what this game (and the Wii U in general) needs!
