Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo will become obsolete

You got the "Nintendo will become obsolete" part correct, you just didn't express it very well, and your reasons for that happening seem...

...questionable? Either way, Nintendo has been losing its hardcore audience since a long time, it wouldn't hurt anyone if they became 3rd party in the future.

I'm now filled with determination.

Well most people buy Nintendo product (consoles) because their first party games, but most people would buy PS consoles/Xbox because their combination of powerful hardware, service/online service/ 3rd party games and 1st party games (very few).

So i get it why people think Nintendo console has already obsolete especially after Super Nintendo Era. Consumer seem interested to buy the console mostly of Nostalgic games, and iconic character on some of their games (one of the reason multiple character used on their first party games) and their Quality is still the best of the best even compare to other games publishing and developer a cross the globe. But none (mainstream gamer non Nintendo fans) buy the console primary because their hardware capability.

While their games is become more and more recognize by many people as the best, the hardware speak differently in market , they indeed profitable but their market share is shrinking.

Sounds like Sony would be closer to that than Nintendo tbh.

Sony closer to being obsolete as a hardware manufacturer than Nintendo? Have you not seen PS4 sales?

Seeing as we were beating the revenue-is-not-profit drum not long ago it shouldn't be too hard to realise that sales also don't equal profits.  Even if Sony is now profiting on each unit of PS4 hardware sold they are still likely only part of the way through paying off the PS4 R+D costs.  I think it is highly unlikely that the PS4 venture as a whole has yet turned profit.

I'm not claiming this article represents any kind of 'truth' but it's pretty easy to find a host of similar articles in well respected publications. I know that the authors of these articles don't determine Sony's fate, but the shareholders that do read these articles and with losses in 9 of the last 10 years Sony's shareholders have reason to be displeased.

Wow! Amazing thread! Unique and unbeaten to death topic! Totally not obvious flamebait and lock worthy, especially after the OP's first reply! 10/10 will post some more in this thread!

great job an not bothering to read anything after the title really

Great job not reading the post you quoted!

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go contribute to threads that are atleast semi-worthy of existing!

You are aware that Sony is closer to what you're predicting than Nintendo is? Sony execs are already debating among themselves whether or not PS5 will be physical or cloud based. They already are working on bringing their PS Now library to non Sony devices and even allow streaming PS4 games to Sony tablets.

Its a great idea but you got the wrong company. Sony will end up having their PS5 cloud service on the next Nintendo console, along with all phones, tablets, TVs, PCs etc.

That will be funny if it happens. Then there be no more excuses for Sony fans who also want to play Nintendo games. Well I am sure they will move the goal line like devs do every generation.

Oh yeah. Sony is lining themselves up to sell out super hard. The PlayStation logo will be on hundreds of millions of devices by the end of the decade and almost none of them will be a Sony console. Its smart for them in that they won't have to waste billions developing hardware anymore. That and their profit margins on consoles and most hardware and software is usually terrible. They need to sell consoles like gangbusters in order to get any profit. All of those problems disappear when they are cloud based.

Sony likes to pride themselves on having the most powerful console this generation and last generation too. But this generation they are already out of date a year into its life cycle. When its cloud based they will never be outdated again. They will always have access to the best graphics possible.

I'm certain this is a joke thread...

I agree with Kirby. It's going to happen either way. The only difference will be if they decide to do it themselves earlier, or they are forced to do it later.

As someone who is new here, are these threads common? Like there weren't any Nintendoom threads for a while, and now it seems like there's been a baby boom of them. what up wit dis

My theory is that a lot of people around here were convinced that Smash for Wii U would help the Wii U compete with the PS4 & X1 this holiday season. That obviously didn't happen. Now we don't really know where to go from here...

It's about market share and brand recognize in industry, even if SONY bankrupt they can still sale PS brand to other company unlike Nintendo
