I guess having a think, a lot of this stereotype has been placed firmly on PC/WoW users (think what Southpark would depict). I wonder if this is what the common man still thinks of videogame console players tho?

I agree about the casual statement here...but I'm pretty sure they would be self proclaimed "hardcore" gamers.

Really, this topic is silly any way you cut it.  We're talking about stereotypes here...so in a way we're off on the wrong foot even before the race began.  

We're all of us unique individuals with unique passions and unique interests.  I think in a way the whole world has become "gamer" whether it be on their facebook page, on their phone, their tablet, their pc, or their dedicated console.  People like playing...there's a lot of "downtime" in this life and gaming fills much of that void for all of us.  That codified "stereotypical gamer" was never a thing when it came to be and it really isn't a thing now.

I'm skinny, tall, and am dealing with acne but I'm otherwise not in the stereotype. I am average looking.

As for fashion, my mom still does a lot of shopping for me but with guidance from fashion-obsessed brother so my clothes look good without standing out too much. I do own 2 gaming shirts and a Guardians of the Galaxy shirt, but they are cool nerdy instead of normal nerdy

I would rather describe myself as more of the Brad Pit type but of course with a bigger sex appeal, more like Angelina Jolie's. Then again, I am way hotter than both of them combined, as people usually break down crying when seeing me in person for the first time. Makes for some slightly awkward scenes when I am on vacation, but since I also have the serenity of a late pope John Paul II, I can deal with these situations.

Oh, and of course I am 6 feet some inches, am very athletic built and definitely very sporty.

So, pretty much the avrerage VGC-member, it seems.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, I think you're confusing me with saying all gamers are/were like that. Stereotypes are niche for sure but there are those that fit the bill.

My question and purpose for topic is, how many of these stereotypes are out there these days, because back in the day a lot of gamers really did look like how I depict them to look.

I think with gaming turning into a more mass market, mainstream form of entertainment your stereotypical gamer has moved on from the "nerd" to your every day guy or girl.

With the rise of Twitch streamers, Youtube gamers and the casual market the gaming scene is now as diverse as any other form of media.

Not overweight (I'm closer to being under than over) or any of those things.
I do wear heavy glasses if that counts.

I don't think I fit a single one of the "stereotypical" gamer traits.

It's a good job that things have moved on really so that it's something everyone can enjoy.
