I agree about the casual statement here...but I'm pretty sure they would be self proclaimed "hardcore" gamers.

Really, this topic is silly any way you cut it.  We're talking about stereotypes here...so in a way we're off on the wrong foot even before the race began.  

We're all of us unique individuals with unique passions and unique interests.  I think in a way the whole world has become "gamer" whether it be on their facebook page, on their phone, their tablet, their pc, or their dedicated console.  People like playing...there's a lot of "downtime" in this life and gaming fills much of that void for all of us.  That codified "stereotypical gamer" was never a thing when it came to be and it really isn't a thing now.
