Do you fit the stereotypical gamer type?

Yes, with a fedora to boot 7 3.41%

I'm overweight and a little geeky looking 36 17.56%

I'm standard weight but still look geeky 57 27.80%

No, I'm pretty metrosexu... 105 51.22%

Total:205

I'm definitely more of a hipster than a gamer, but I suppose there's more than a little overlap...
I'm definitely not an athlete...
I'm also in graduate school and conducting what I think is a pretty cool research project, which some might say goes against the acidic "gamers never grow up and are wasting their lives" opinion...
And I'm gay and in an interracial relationship, which goes against homophobic and racist perceptions many have of gamers...
I'd like to think I'm not sexist either...
There are plenty of misperceptions regarding members of the gaming community that go far beyond appearance and athleticism...

Have a nice day...

The poll confirms what I long suspected.

Vgchartz has the sexiest gaming community.

I mean in terms of appearence? Are you overweight, spotty, wear a feadora, have zero taste in fashion, you all know what I'm talking about.

Be honest, (or vote anonymously) I'd be interested to see if it is more outdated than I think it already is.

And yes owning a videogame t shirt goes someway to fitting the stereotype guys.

1: most gamers got a short fuse and gets easily upset.

2: most gamers in the gaming world tries to act cooler then what they are.

everything else about being fat or skinny etc etc, doesn't really matter cuz i don't mind people like that at all.

all that matters is the behavior.

I don't own any gaming shirt either. I have strict fashion sense since I am required to wear a suit for work. I tend to always match what I am wearing with my sneakers (I am a big Jordan Sneakerhead as well). When I choose to dress preppy I tend to match my belt with my dress shoes and wear an argyle or a collar sweater, so I guess that's the geekiest I look on any given day. I have a bit of a gut but I am VERY Metro-sexual when it comes to my hair and my facial skin. I have specific balms I use after I finish shaving as well. I am a short guy though.

Does this sound like your typical gamer geek?

king kong aint got shit on me

Not me. I'm often told that I "don't look like a gamer" or computer nerd. I guess the stereotype is a fat, possibly balding white guy (or Kevin Smith) and I'm a young black guy who grew up in the hood. I'm betting I'm the stereotype for something else though lol.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

I'm geeky and socially awkward, but I'm in my ideal weight range, I'm very fit, and I wouldn't touch a fedora with a telephone pole.

Personally, I favor a homburg though I do own several fedoras. I'm 5-11 and 130 pounds, never leave the house without a freshly pressed 3 piece suit and walking stick. Modern fashion turns my stomach.

I have a "retro" t-shirt with Mario in it but that's all have regarding gaming clothing. I'm not overweight, but I'm not that skinny either, although, I was one big fattass when I was 10-15, I have a pretty fucking ugly face, too, so those things may count, and I also wear glasses, which makes me instantly nerdy according to all the cartoons I watched as a kid.

Also, I don't know if I have sense in fashion, I just know that I try to wear clothing that I like and tend to make sure I don't look like an absolute dumbass wearing it, does that count?

I'm now filled with determination.

Only thing sterotypical about me is that im Asian and wear glasses...lol

I would never consider myself attractive but i do try...im half asian, 6'2", have a fashion sense when i need to and i have a hot girl friend.
We are both pretty friggin nerdy in our own way :)

But i must admit....when i was in highschool many years ago i coukd say i was pretty sterotypical. Was skinny, mid height asian with glasses and some acne....dont miss those days lol

Edit: call me a snob but i hate gaming or nerdy tshirts. I always see nintendo T's with people flaunting how nerdy they are....imo nerdy tshirts arent that nerdy anymore. Im used to keeping to myself about what i liked because i got crucified for it in highschool! However because of my job/ career i dont need to hide that kind of stuff anymore which is nice :)
