Ms has as much of the right intention as a video game console maker for a gamer then sony does. I am still disappointed at sony for the fact that they still refusing to provide external hdd support even though they are advertising ps4 with slogan for the gamers. If it was for the gamers, then we should by now have external hdd support like xbox one has.

Did you forget the whole no used games or online only? Has sony ever done anything remotely like that? Then how did you come up with "Ms has as much of the right intention as a video game console maker for a gamer then sony does."? Isn't it easier to install a ssd or hdd into a ps4 than a xbox one? Sony made it easy to switch it out if you want or upgrade your hdd without it voiding your warranty. Only reason you would mess with an external hdd is because MS will void your warranty if you install an internal one. :D

Their intention is the same as Sony and Nintendo; to make money.

Lol I love all the Sony fans preaching the good word.... Sony is the worst thing that ever happened to the gaming industry. They literally industrialized an art form... Yeah sure they allowed great games to happen but at the same time the average quality dropped dramatically we never had that amount of shitty game ratio. And we never recovered from it.. Sure with the sheer amount of releases skyrocketing it seems we have more good games overall which is totally false. Sony is to the video game industry what McDonald's is to the burger industry.... But yeah sure whatever they had the gamers interest in mind.

Sincere question: How did Sony further industrialize the game industry in ways that Nintendo didn't? How did they increase production of games?

Nintendo pretty much dropped it's support for the Wii after 2010 which is a shame. I bet a Wii Fit 3 on that system could have sold millions. I think NIntendo has always had a huge problem with console transitions. Wii support was mostly dropped in order to start Wii U software development and that's where they ran into trouble. They prematurly abandoned the Wii while their lack of experience with HD consoles caused Wii U's software to fall behind schedule. In some ways, Nintendo is still supporting the Wii. It can still be bought in North America. It's software is still on store shelves and it's e-Shop is still available to anyone who owns a Wii U, or a non-Wii mini Wii console. 

People talk about 5 year plans and 10 year plans. I think based on what we've see with the 8th gen consoles, these machines will not last 10 years. After their first 5 years, they might remain in production for another year or two, but software development will dry up quickly. I think by the end of 2018, we'll be celebrating the launch of the 9th gen consoles.

What are you basing any of that on?

Microsoft is using the XBox as an vehicle for the NEXT thing: Windows Box. A free Windows OS specific to gaming. It's a wonder that Microsoft can still rip of the gamers for their Direct X technology when Steam is going more and more to a free-as-beer Linux model.

Expect it to be released alongside the next gen graphics with on-die gddr. The hardware prices will plummet and every chinese manufacture will be able to produce "consoles" surparsing the XOne and PS4 while costing only a fraction of them.

Google and Amazon might also bet on this - but Microsoft holds the best cards if played right.

Sorry for Sony: they are still a hardware company with an self baked OSses tailored to single devices. Exactly the opposite of whats needed if you don't have a roster of unique gameplay experiences like Nintendo...

Why is Direct X ripping off gamers? 

I don't understand the OP?  Right intentions?   It's a video game console just like Sony's and Nintendo and they all want to create great games and make money doing so.  It's a business plain and simple.
