Does Microsoft have the right intentions as a video game console maker for a gamer?

You are trying to use facts and logic in a discussion where they don't want to use either. Just look at the deflecting and shifting goal posts:

No they don't, the Xbox 360 is still getting great games today

I know it really is for other reader to see.   Only reason any console continues to get support is if it is a big success to begin with. Any company will continue to support a console 10, 12, 15 years if it is more profitable to do so.   Will we see something like the Wii U supported for that long. I doubt it.

Nintendo support for the Wii dropped immediately. Which is crazy since its in so many homes.

Nintendo pretty much dropped it's support for the Wii after 2010 which is a shame. I bet a Wii Fit 3 on that system could have sold millions. I think NIntendo has always had a huge problem with console transitions. Wii support was mostly dropped in order to start Wii U software development and that's where they ran into trouble. They prematurly abandoned the Wii while their lack of experience with HD consoles caused Wii U's software to fall behind schedule. In some ways, Nintendo is still supporting the Wii. It can still be bought in North America. It's software is still on store shelves and it's e-Shop is still available to anyone who owns a Wii U, or a non-Wii mini Wii console. 

People talk about 5 year plans and 10 year plans. I think based on what we've see with the 8th gen consoles, these machines will not last 10 years. After their first 5 years, they might remain in production for another year or two, but software development will dry up quickly. I think by the end of 2018, we'll be celebrating the launch of the 9th gen consoles.
