Forums - Nintendo - People need to STOP asking for a Wii U with no Gamepad

The gamepad is junk. It will be gone next year, I'm certain. Imagine a 199 wiiu zelda bundle next Christmas. It would sell several million easily.

Have you actually even used the gamepad? I think its a great controller and the off tv play feature is awesome. .

Yeah I played some zombiu u and mario when it first came out. It honestly felt like a slab of pizza. And I don't care about off tv play - the screen is too small/crappy.

Yes, of course they're going to make a Gamepad-less bundle for the game they designed the controller for.

All I've seen so far of the gamepad in zelda is a map .. Or am I missing something?

If the Wii U was selling for $199 with the Pro controller as the standard controller, it would be selling like hotcakes and 3rd parties would actually have an incentive to release games on it.

As it stands, its only $50 cheaper than the X1 and $100 less than the PS4 which are both in much higher demand as evidenced by the weekly sales, and unlike the Wiimote / motion controls for the original Wii, the Gamepad is not a big selling point for the Wii U. In fact its more like an anchor. It would be nice if it was sold separately as an optional peripheral for say $99.99, but in no way does it justify being permanently tethered to the Wii U.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Playing that game having to pause to see a map would be painful. But still, there's a little icon on the bottom-right of the Gamepad that indicates that there will be other uses for it besides the very useful map.

I'm sure they will work it in in other ways, but I'm very skeptical that they will be significant, seeing as how Nintendo has failed to do so so far... As far as pausing, looking down at the gamepad takes as much time as that, or it should at least.

No it wouldn't.

Why not? It has most of the highest rated games this gen and at that price would be attractive to both casuals/families on a budget as well as to hard core gamers as a secondary system alongside a ps4/one. I know I'd be tempted at that price.

GamePad-less bundles can exist ONLY if:

1. The OS is patched
2. Nintendo either sticks a disclaimer to the Pro Controller bundles saying that not all games can be played (Or patches individual games [WON'T HAPPEN])
3. Nintendo produces GamePad SKUs for retail

4, 5, & 6. Is Nintendo willing to invest in these changes, end their policy of fully supporting the GamePad, and allow it to become irrelevant to consumers???

No way in hell will the next Nintendo console have a Upad, so they might as well do it now...

It didn't work for the gamecube (which was selling better than the Wii U is right now), what makes you think it will work for the Wii U?

Well having a unique controller worked for the Wii, but not the WiiU. Its not a guarantee that history will repeat itself.
