If the Wii U was selling for $199 with the Pro controller as the standard controller, it would be selling like hotcakes and 3rd parties would actually have an incentive to release games on it.

As it stands, its only $50 cheaper than the X1 and $100 less than the PS4 which are both in much higher demand as evidenced by the weekly sales, and unlike the Wiimote / motion controls for the original Wii, the Gamepad is not a big selling point for the Wii U. In fact its more like an anchor. It would be nice if it was sold separately as an optional peripheral for say $99.99, but in no way does it justify being permanently tethered to the Wii U.
