What a pointless thread, so customers all want the PS4 bundles that are much better value for money and are sold out. And they are willing to wait for them not to be sold out or buy elsewhere rather than buy the overpriced special edition that is available at Target.

Yeah poor sony having most of there SKU's sold out. Its the fastest selling console in History, they dont need to price match there special edition.

Microsoft threw everything last gen at Sony and Sony still came back. Sony is willing to slow down their development knowing who they are dealing it. This should tell you something. Microsoft in the long run will be in trouble compared to last gen with Sony. They might profit off of the One...which everyone here wants  because its so far my favorite console to game on so far, but once the third party dries up where will MS have to run? Thats the question I pose.

Again...you know full well that beating Sony means far more to Microsoft than being the fastest selling console they've ever had. They aren't in this industry for that. Thats a nice accomplishment but one must pay attention to their intentions to realize what they are dealing with. This is going to be quite a gen filled with tons of third party titles from MS. They are going to pay until it hurts just to try and catch up. That doesnt hurt me though...more games for me. ;)

We're in 2014, not 2004. Microsoft entered the console market to stop Sony from taking over the home entertainment space and that war is over. Now MS wants what all the companies want, to push their services through the console and make money. To imply MS holds beating Sony higher than profit and/or their own success is simply ridiculous.

That was is not over. They accomplished slowing them down, but did not completely accomplish their goal. MS is the type of company that goes for the throat and they will buy up any real estate just to do it....ask Steve Jobs. Microsoft wouldn't have launched at the exact time that they did last year if Sony didnt blindside them in February of last year stating that they are launching the PS4. There were so many reports that MS was rushing to fix the clock speed of the Xbox One that it wasnt even funny. Sony makes them flinch,,,which is why they rushed the 360 launch before R&D could finish it causing one the greatest failure rate in gaming and one of the worst in electronics. Luckily for all of us MS has money and can fix their warranties and thus fix their PR. This is why we have so many fans in our Xbox Ones. Paranoia is key. ;)

As I said before, you're putting the cart before the horse. Sony is naturally more dominant than MS and this is why MS flinches everytime they do something. Ever seen Sony make a irrational move because of Microsoft when it comes to development? I know I haven't. They've made mistakes on their own, but not really out of response to Microsoft. Microsoft is a company that by nature doesn't like competition. Not only is Sony having an home entertainment console an issue for MS, but the fact that in its day it had its own OS was a threat. The fact that Sony turned them down as a partner kills them, which is why they came to the industry to destroy them. One of the old presidents of Xbox admitted it. I believe his name was Joachim. If Sony worked with Microsoft every Playstation would've most likely had a Microsoft developed OS. They like monopolization. NIntendo is not an issue for them...they wanted their real estate on Sony.

Joachim said the Xbox was pitched to Microsoft with the purest of intention. They wanted an American console made console and MS wasn't up to it until they had issues with Sony. Everyone has their reasoning and Sony got into the industry because of Nintendo screwed them over and never realized that the industry to were using to get revenge in the beginning turned into their bread and butter.

I actually just bought the Destiny bundle today, and definitely not for Destiny but for the fact that I wanted a white PS4 and the standalone white PS4 was around the same price as the Destiny bundle. So figured I'd get the Destiny bundle and either sell Destiny or give it to a family member. I have absolutely NO interest in the game but that's more because I don't ever play first-person games... ever. I get motion sickness so I avoid first person games like the pest. Wish I could have gotten another game with it instead, even TLOU remastered would have been preferable despite having played it on PS3.

Bungie shit in the bed with the latest update. Screw trying to level without paying for DLC. I already deleted it off my hard drive for games I want to play.

So much hyperbole and ill informed, low level, baseless ramblings.

Business isnt like this.  It just isnt.

Sony certainly holds ZERO threat to MS and for that matter Sny is now pretty much zero threat to anyone.

"Want to destroy Sony"?  Then why havent they? because they certainly could if they really, really wanted to and money was no object... which it isnt.

Just read this and educate yourself. One of the former bosses around the time of the Xboxes creation admitted it after he left. His name was Joachim Kempin. Sony kept MS at an arms length and MS had their eye on Sony before they even entered the gaming industry. Once Sony prettymuch controlled the lionshare of the industry and refused to let MS in on it they had enough.

I dont need to, I know ALL the details VERY well.

But this is over a decade ago.  The world has changed.

I dont think you have been paying attention.  Sony is weak now, a shadow of its former self, it could never take over the living room (it wasnt about gaming per se, it was about home computing essentially) or anything else for that matter.

Let it go.  Its wrong and its tired.

The world has not changed. MS never stopped Sony, they only slowed them down. As I said. MS is the type of company that is known to go for the throat and they will do it by any means necessary because even though they compete with you domination is what they truly seek. Windows will continue to function like Apple and the Xbox will use the Ten year plan of Sony and buy up third party real estate just to do battle with them. First party doesnt come naturally for Microsoft owning IP's is as close to pure first party as they'll ever gen.

Some of these anecdotal evidence posts are hilarious.

"Console X sold 10x as much as console Y in my local store" *has console X games & gamertag/ID in their sig*

It's fun because some people talk as if winning NPD (and not for much) has some kind of value when PS4 is figuratively raping X1 in Europe and Japan.

You're welcome.

Also WW numbers are boring. US is the only place with some sales excitement. Nobody can predict for sure who will win December NPD but everyone will be able to tell who will win WW.

I think they should cut the price to 399$. That's what Microsoft would do.

Sony dropping the PS4 price to $350 will not change anything.  MS knows that the XB1 needs to be cheaper than the PS4 to sell well in the US.  If Sony dropped the price to $350, MS would be forced to drop the price to $300.  How does that help Sony.

Sony is better off taking the extra $1,000,000,000 a $50 price drop would cost them next year and investing in more games.  (yes, one billion dollars = 20M consoles x $50 price drop)  $350 vs $400 is not a big deal if the more expensive console has better hardware and the game you want to play.
