I dont need to, I know ALL the details VERY well.
But this is over a decade ago. The world has changed.
I dont think you have been paying attention. Sony is weak now, a shadow of its former self, it could never take over the living room (it wasnt about gaming per se, it was about home computing essentially) or anything else for that matter.
Let it go. Its wrong and its tired.

We are talking about consoles, Kowen. In this market, MS never posed a threat to anyone. They never won a gen, their best selling console is 360 (and all 3 PS consoles sold more than then and we are pretty much sure that PS4 will too). Sony beat MS with the PS2, beat them with the PS3 and beat them with the PS4. The fact that MS has way more money just shows how incompetent they have been on the console market.
It's not like they aren't trying. Massive price cuts in just one year, free games, buying timed exclusives, marketing, buying Minecraft. They are doing what they can, but they just apparently can't beat the competition in home consoles.
It's a battle for the living room. We all know MS strategy, what they would really, really want, would be a Windows-powered device in your desk (laptops, PC, etc), your hands (tablet), your pocket (WP) and your living room (XB1). They have an unified store now and they would like to be everywhere. Right now, they are succeding only in the first one. Both tablets and smartphones are dominated by Apple and Google and this won't change (I'm talking as a developer. OS markets are always monopolies. Nobody wants do develop for 10 OS. We have 2 now and that's already a lot).
The living room won't be for them because the main way to reach it is with console. We have smart TVs and smart devices plugged to TV, but the first one is where only Google is trying something and the second pretty much is a flopped market. Consoles still reign as the smart device in the living room and where we have a PS we won't probably have a XB, so it's a problem for their strategy. It isn't a threat to MS, of course, since it isn't their main revenue source by far. I would say that from the markets they don't have a substantial presence, the priority probably is phones, tablets and then living rooms. Anyway, it's not like they are liking too see their product not being anywhere close to dominant.
Edit: just to clarify, MS is the one that wants the living room to put a smart device capable of running apps. Sony just wants games and some streaming, with thei music and video services shoved in. MS is a software company, Sony is an entertainement company (their electronic devices are for that), so it's easy too see why they act different. The only problem is that when a PS takes the living room slot, MS won't put their smart device in there.
