Microsoft threw everything last gen at Sony and Sony still came back. Sony is willing to slow down their development knowing who they are dealing it. This should tell you something. Microsoft in the long run will be in trouble compared to last gen with Sony. They might profit off of the One...which everyone here wants  because its so far my favorite console to game on so far, but once the third party dries up where will MS have to run? Thats the question I pose.

Again...you know full well that beating Sony means far more to Microsoft than being the fastest selling console they've ever had. They aren't in this industry for that. Thats a nice accomplishment but one must pay attention to their intentions to realize what they are dealing with. This is going to be quite a gen filled with tons of third party titles from MS. They are going to pay until it hurts just to try and catch up. That doesnt hurt me though...more games for me. ;)

We're in 2014, not 2004. Microsoft entered the console market to stop Sony from taking over the home entertainment space and that war is over. Now MS wants what all the companies want, to push their services through the console and make money. To imply MS holds beating Sony higher than profit and/or their own success is simply ridiculous.

That was is not over. They accomplished slowing them down, but did not completely accomplish their goal. MS is the type of company that goes for the throat and they will buy up any real estate just to do it....ask Steve Jobs. Microsoft wouldn't have launched at the exact time that they did last year if Sony didnt blindside them in February of last year stating that they are launching the PS4. There were so many reports that MS was rushing to fix the clock speed of the Xbox One that it wasnt even funny. Sony makes them flinch,,,which is why they rushed the 360 launch before R&D could finish it causing one the greatest failure rate in gaming and one of the worst in electronics. Luckily for all of us MS has money and can fix their warranties and thus fix their PR. This is why we have so many fans in our Xbox Ones. Paranoia is key. ;)

As I said before, you're putting the cart before the horse. Sony is naturally more dominant than MS and this is why MS flinches everytime they do something. Ever seen Sony make a irrational move because of Microsoft when it comes to development? I know I haven't. They've made mistakes on their own, but not really out of response to Microsoft. Microsoft is a company that by nature doesn't like competition. Not only is Sony having an home entertainment console an issue for MS, but the fact that in its day it had its own OS was a threat. The fact that Sony turned them down as a partner kills them, which is why they came to the industry to destroy them. One of the old presidents of Xbox admitted it. I believe his name was Joachim. If Sony worked with Microsoft every Playstation would've most likely had a Microsoft developed OS. They like monopolization. NIntendo is not an issue for them...they wanted their real estate on Sony.

Joachim said the Xbox was pitched to Microsoft with the purest of intention. They wanted an American console made console and MS wasn't up to it until they had issues with Sony. Everyone has their reasoning and Sony got into the industry because of Nintendo screwed them over and never realized that the industry to were using to get revenge in the beginning turned into their bread and butter.
