1) Agree. A lot of games rely on it and it can't be removed without breaking (or having to patch) them. Despite that, a Wii U without a tablet is just a very underpowered PS4 or slightly overpowered 360.
2) Disagree. It did severe mistakes. It lacks power, it lacks 3rd parties, it has a gimmick controller. Nintendo screwed it up this time, all companies will do it sometime (X1, PS3, Vita). It's being beaten by PS4 and X1 even without any big games on them and a lot of games that are cross gen (you don't need to upgrade your console to play Destiny or WD). When the big games hit and the 3rd parties move to next-gen only, these two will soar high. Things will get only worse for the Wi U.
3) Agree. They would Dreamcast themselves. It would be more expensive than PS4 and X1 without a big jump in power and 3rd parties would hate it. When it arrived, PS4 and X1 would have received price cuts and massive libraries and would be in their peak. Then, after being beaten for 1 or 2 years, the new Nintendo console would face a PS5 or X(something) that would massively overpower him and it would be as dead as the DC. The DC is cult now, but it didn't sold enough in this time to keep Sega alive. As you said, it would be a stupid idea.
Despite that, Nintendo isn't a Sega-type company that likes to jump early, they prefer too wait and make their move when they are pretty sure of it.
4) Partially agree. They aren't bad moves. They are games and games build library and help a console. But they aren't system sellers. I don't consider a game a system seller unless it moves hundreds of thousands or millions of consoles. That isn't the case here.
5) Agree (with yout point). It would be stupid right now. They sell a lot of software and hardware. They had a bad home console gen but they can recover. Going 3rd party will only happen if they screw it up like Sega several gens in a row and break their own financials to the point that dealing with launching a new hardware is impossible. Unless they screw 2 more gens in a row, it won't happen.
