If it means more Wii U support, 3DS can drop off the earth for all I care, haha.

Sorry man, it's the cold harsh truth. I never got on board with handhelds, I'm a console gamer.

I'm with you dude.

To all the people saying there will be a Pokémon Z: that would mean 3 straight years of new Pokémon games (I know ORAS are remakes but still). Do you really think 3 years of new Pokémon is really realistic?

Pokémon Western releases

  • ORAS -2014
  • XY -2013
  • B2W2 - 2012
  • BW - 2011
  • HGSS - 2010
  • Platinum - 2009

When you look at it Pokémon has been an annual series for some time really, for better or worse.

Yeah you're right. I'm not too big into Pokémon but for some reason I assumed that they only released new games every few years or so. Didn't realise there were so many!

Um yes it is, unless you think either PS4 or xboxone is going to make up the difference in the roughly 80mil sales drop Wii U had from WIi. 280mil consoles last gen. 100 of those were Wii. Wii U isnt going to get close to those numbers. Even if PS4 or One do the same as there predecessors then they would each have to sell about 40 mil extra to make up the difference not gonna happen.

But then again you even said in your own post that WIi U is massively down. So again its not that different from 3ds situation. If Ninty must stop doing handhelds cause they have no future there then it holds doubly true for there consoles since its doing much worse, doesnt matter that that market isnt so bad because Ninty doesnt benefit anyway

I don't think this  console gen will be down massively from last. It'll be down, but not to the degree that the handheld market is.

And just cos Nintendo screwed up with the Wii U doesn't mean future consoles couldn't possibly do better.

266mil consoles were sold last gen. 100 of those were Wiis. Now we have the WIi U doing worse than GC. Lets say that Wii U does 25mil. That is 75mil consoles lost right there just on Ninty's side. IMHO I dont think xone is going to do anywhere near the numbers of 360 outside of US and UK nobody cares. and even then they are getting stomped by PS4. itll do about 50mil. that is about 30mil down. SO now we have lose 100mil console sales. PS4 will probably do more than PS3 but it will need to add 100+ consoles to be overall even with last gen. Now if a drop of 100mil isnt massive. I dont know what is.

As for portables we dont know what they will sell. Dont know how long Sony will just keep Vita on the shelves or Ninty with 3ds. There not doing last gen numbers either but lets not pretend. Home consoles are unscathed.

Home consoles aren't unscathed, it's true.

But handhelds sold what, 230m last gen? This gen they look set to end up at around 80m. That's a drop to a third of last gen. The home console drop won't be that severe, that would mean 90m total console sales, and PS4 alone will probably top that.

Of course 96%+ is different from 0%. The former means owning a controlling interest.

Monolith Soft is a Nintendo first party developer.

You're one of those silly people who thinks there's such a thing as "close enough," aren't you? #allornothing

It doesn't really matter. Nintendo have total control over them, and the vast majority of the money they generate goes to Nintendo. They're functionally identical to a 1st party. At that point you may as well call them one, regardless to if you believe ownership is "all or nothing" (which is a silly notion, but i lack to energy to argue the point).

Yeah, you know who thought commanding 96% of Europe was "good enough"? Napoleon. How'd that work out for him. As long as there remains pockets outside Nintendo's control, then they're not actually in total control, and therefore they're a third-party. Not first. Not second. Third!!!

lol. Good job noname.

Anyway, Xenoblade is a first-party game. Smash Bros is a first-party game as well despite being developed by Namco. Kirby's Epic Yarn is a first-party game... Luigi's Mansion 2 is a first-party game... etc.

HAHAHA ...

You fell into the same trap as Curl did ...

Nintendo needs to bring more Japanese games here. Well, the ones that are left out. Specifically, I'm talking Dragon Quest. I need The monsters games and VII in my life. I can't stand that Final Fantasy music games get shipped over here faster than you can breathe which go on to sell like crap and we can't even get ONE decent Dragon Quest over here. What's the problem! The last Dragon Quest sold over 600,000 copies in the US and over 1.2 Million outside of Japan. It will sell well, there are plenty of loyal DQ fans here. They need to improve the number of games available in the west.
