Um yes it is, unless you think either PS4 or xboxone is going to make up the difference in the roughly 80mil sales drop Wii U had from WIi. 280mil consoles last gen. 100 of those were Wii. Wii U isnt going to get close to those numbers. Even if PS4 or One do the same as there predecessors then they would each have to sell about 40 mil extra to make up the difference not gonna happen. 

But then again you even said in your own post that WIi U is massively down. So again its not that different from 3ds situation. If Ninty must stop doing handhelds cause they have no future there then it holds doubly true for there consoles since its doing much worse, doesnt matter that that market isnt so bad because Ninty doesnt benefit anyway

The console market may possibly be more stable looking forward, but that doesn't mean Wii U was ever a better investment than the 3DS. Currently, there are more people looking to buy the 3DS compared to the Wii U, and that group could've been widened further with better decisions.

In the short term, Nintendo would've been better off supporting the 3DS. If they wanted a strong market for their next home console then they could use the profits earned from supporting a relatively healthy console (3DS) to create a better future for their next home console.

Also, that's true. There's no denying that Nintendo must expand their team.

Nintendo really should have taken advantage of the money-printing days of Wii/DS to buy/build more studios so they could give both systems strong support. I  suppose they did buy Monolith and are kind of outsourcing now to the likes of Tecmo and Namco, but it's not enough.

I don't think this  console gen will be down massively from last. It'll be down, but not to the degree that the handheld market is.

You're being extremely inconsistent.  In your OP, you don't even attempt to make a similar distinction by calling all the games you listed in the OP as "third party."  That's incorrect.  And if you want to focus on Nintendo EAD, they don't even make a game every year.  What kind of point are you even trying to make?

Gosh, that gap in the 3DS line-up next year looks the perfect size for Majora's Mask 3D, wouldn't you say?

Expect a big Dec/ Jan -Feb direct/s that will show a ton of games. And technically, Steam is 1st party.

Next Level Games has something in the oven (could be for Wii U or 3DS), and I would expect at least a couple more Wii ports as they wind down the the system in preparation for what's next.

@Bolded - whaaat?!Code name STEAM and Xenoblade are both Nintendo games, NOT 3rd parties... And I'm quite sure they'll announce more games later on. Don't they usually have a Nintendo Direct at the beginning of the new year? I think you'll get more announcements there and at E3
