Lol exclusives are a very big factor still, people obviously aren't as blind as you and see that PS4 has more coming soon.

sony had only one exclusiv that had real impact, and that was ff7 in the ps era.
after that, sony had some great exclusives, but they didnt sold well.
last gen, uncharted 3 just sold 6,5m games that below 10% attachment rate. im not even sure if they sold more 1sr party games than consoles.
the only first party game of sony that had a rate above 10% was gt5. (if it sold consoles or not u can argue, but it was no killer app)

LOL I'll admit that most PS3 games don't reach their full potential in sales but a few things:
1) The Uncharted Series has sold almost exactly as well as the Gears series so I wouldn't say it "just" sold 6.5m.
2) It shouldn't be a surprise that when a console has twice as many big exclusives they tend to sell a little less each.
3) Just because each exclusive doesn't sell 10m copies, doesn't mean they aren't moving consoles. At this point it can be compared to why people buy Nintendo consoles:
-I don't like Zelda or 3D mario's, but some day I might get a Wii U for SSB and Paper Mario. Those are the games I get it for.
-On the other hand one of my friends might not care for those games but love Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong, and Mario Kart.
-Gaming tastes overlap but each one requires at least a few of their favorite franchises to get on board with a new generation.
-So consider that I may love Demon's Souls, Killzone, and Uncharted; while a friend of mine loves Uncharted, GT, and GOW. They all need to be there to draw a large and diverse crowd.
