Forums - Gaming - Why is PS4 still outselling the X1 in America?

I had a buddy that went ps4 about 3 months ago. He drank the kool-aid like everyone else. But something happened on the way to gaming happiness. He traded his ps4 for the Xbox One and has been much happier. Hell, I traded my ps4 for an Xbox One back in August and have not looked back. I also have the white Xbox One being delivered on Tuesday. More hypnotized gamers will eventually wake up soon.

What a coincidence! My friend went from being firmly set on getting an Xbox One (she was a 360 gal,) to abruptly changing course to PS4. Interestingly, this wasn't about the old DRM policies or that old stuff, she changed her mind after this year's Gamescom because she went from 'I'm sure Microsoft'll announce enough stuff I want at the conferences!' to '...hrn, nevermind, I guess.' Killed her interest in Quantum Break and the Xbox One in a single fell swoop. This was without me ever breathing a word, heck, even I was surprised.

So people are waking up all over! =D

Because I'm sure we agree that sometimes folks get the console that ultimately isn't best for them, regardless of if it's a PS4 or Xbox One.

Right?

The PS4 is better...

I can't seem to understand this. America has always been an FPS land and Xbox One is the place for it they are releasing a Halo Remaster collection in a few weeks, a COD bundle with exclusive content. And no offense to the PS4 but what good AAA games is releasing for it?  Xbox got Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Halo Remaster for this fall, and they got Quantum Break in the spring. The ps4 has Driveclub in the fall, and The Order in the spring. So, as for as exclusive games go the Xbox One is the king. Also the X1 is 400$ now in America same as PS4 so I would expect better sales for X1.

Why do you think the PS4 is still outselling the X1?   Do you think that exclusive games are no longer the deciding factor and perhaps media bias may have a big role in all of this.

Um X1 has no  AAA games either. What is AAA anyway? Because reviews certainly have not been great for the X1.Outside of FH2 and Forza 5 did not even get an 80. Sunset will be nothing special just like Drive CLub and niether will Quantum Break.Halo collecttion are just old games.YOu ignored LBP3 coming thi fall anyway.

If you are always ignoring the ps4 exclusives, pretending they don't exist, discrediting and ignoring indies and the superior 3rd party games then I can see how someone can be confused. It's really not hard to understand why Ps4 is selling better if you remove bias and look at reality. Better hardware, higher quantity and quality of games. That is why. Better games, more games, better hardware. Hardware designed first and foremost for games and not as an after thought like Xb1 was.

Exactly and all of their exclusives have sold better than those ont he X1 regardless of reviewes.Only bias people count reviews when they favor their console of choice or don't favor the competitor's console. Driveclub is selling better than FH2 and most people I know who have it are enjoying it,myself included. This whole AAA thing is trash as it is another factless term thrown around by people who engage in console wars.Sony has to be doing something right for their success as Nintendo and MS did last generation.

Microsoft shot themselves in the foot at E3 2013, and they still haven't recovered. If they hadn't been so stupid with their anti-consumer policies (mandatory Kinect, always online, DRM, etc.), Xbox One would be DOMINATING the US right now (and perhaps the UK).

Lol I highly doubt that. But let's not debate about hypotheticals.

Its better marketed, more hyped, more powerful system belonging to the more respected brand at this moment in time.

I still think exclusives are important but there really aren't that many nowadays and neither system has had relevant exclusives up to this point. But yeah, multiplatforms equate for the vast majority of quality titles now, back in 2004 most games that weren't tie-ins were probably exclusive to one platform or another.

The image damaging reveal, the image damaging Mattrick, the image damaging PR, which ultimately led to a trend of hating and bashing the Xbox One, with Sony cleverly firing shots at Microsoft and adding oil to the already big fire.

While arguments like hardware/multiplat surperiority may be true, the more dominant factor would be the media, since the 360 had the upper hand with many multiplats but compared to now nobody seemed to care about it. Now, it's the Xbox One's end after every inferior multiplat, it's unplayable/unacceptable if it isn't 1080pee, it's a bad because the numbers say so etc.

Having a more appealing line up of games is a minor factor compared to that. Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Horizon 2, Master Chief Collection vs Second Son, TLoU, DriveClub, Little Big Planet sounds quite evenly matched to me, and those are the names that carry the respective consoles in 2014.

In my opinion, when I look at the situation today the Xbox One deserves it more than PS4, with IMO a slightly better AAA line up, with better support (monthly updates), with more and IMO better functionality for both gamers and non-gamers with Kinect or even without Kinect, but you don't get to see a lot of things (good or bad, Xbox or Playstation) before you actually buy it.
