Or real life, walk into gamestop and if you see someone buying a game for a system you don't like start telling them why the system they like is bad and why they shouldn't enjoy playing games on it. I look forwards to seeing the news of someone being beaten to death with a copy of angry birds....

Hey we could even pass out flyers xD  Just replace smoking with Xbox, Nintedo, or PS and tell them why its bad for you :P

It's all about balancing the freedom to speak the truth while limiting sheer ignorance and blatent trolling.

But I agree, an indelible part of gaming culture is console wars.  It's all in good fun though, similar to sports team rivalries. A little taistful trash talk and jabby advertising adds to the excitement.

Most people bet a decent chunk of money on one console, there's nothing wrong with feeling happy they made the right choice...subjectively.

dude.....I got banned because I used a word. No, it wasn't intrinsically inflammatory or racist or sexist or anything (so not "fanboy" or "idiot" or "bitch" or something like that).

Apparently describing a situation where that word applies is perfectly cool (the mod even said it to me). But because I said "aka that word" that was over the top.

Example: you should research on the topic. You're not very knowledgable on it right now (aka being ignorant). The "you're not very knowledgable" part was cool, but the "little parentheses at the end" was over the line...even though "being ignorant" is exactly what was just described. Does "ignorant" sound mean? Maybe. But is it an overtly bad word, or is it merely a word to describe the state of someones knowledge (or lack thereof)? I'm positive it's the latter.

The mods here can't handle anything because apparently we have to bow to the lowest common denominator in terms of people's sensitivities. Because people may take a non-offensive word or statement offensively. "Toning down" isn't going to work. You have to flat out be Mary Poppins to anyone and everyone, lest they get upset. No discussion allowed, unless you say "yes, but...." and speak in extremely non-specific language.

You can even grab a collection of comments from any fanbase to show there's some solidarity on a particular topic on this site, but don't you dare say "Sony fans/MS fans/Ninty fans" when you talk about it, because then you're "flaming" them.....even though it's their words.

And I can sense that even this post may ruffle some feathers.....but if it gets moderated, then it's just proving my point

If you have to change you own personal style then it is not a place worth of your presence.

Never changes your style... be what you are no matter how haters or mods try to say otherwise.
