| BMaker11 said: dude.....I got banned because I used a word. No, it wasn't intrinsically inflammatory or racist or sexist or anything (so not "fanboy" or "idiot" or "bitch" or something like that). Apparently describing a situation where that word applies is perfectly cool (the mod even said it to me). But because I said "aka that word" that was over the top. Example: you should research on the topic. You're not very knowledgable on it right now (aka being ignorant). The "you're not very knowledgable" part was cool, but the "little parentheses at the end" was over the line...even though "being ignorant" is exactly what was just described. Does "ignorant" sound mean? Maybe. But is it an overtly bad word, or is it merely a word to describe the state of someones knowledge (or lack thereof)? I'm positive it's the latter. The mods here can't handle anything because apparently we have to bow to the lowest common denominator in terms of people's sensitivities. Because people may take a non-offensive word or statement offensively. "Toning down" isn't going to work. You have to flat out be Mary Poppins to anyone and everyone, lest they get upset. No discussion allowed, unless you say "yes, but...." and speak in extremely non-specific language. You can even grab a collection of comments from any fanbase to show there's some solidarity on a particular topic on this site, but don't you dare say "Sony fans/MS fans/Ninty fans" when you talk about it, because then you're "flaming" them.....even though it's their words. And I can sense that even this post may ruffle some feathers.....but if it gets moderated, then it's just proving my point |
Actually a lot of wht you said is not true. Post adn moderation history play a part in being moderated from what I have seen. It is not even about being "sensitive" iahve had some heated discussions with people on here before. But I have NEVER been modereated for ANYTHING because I make sure to not offend anyone or say anything that is not needed. Some people just do ENTIRELY to much for it to even be called a debate/discussion. I have seen you post quite a bit and you indeed make a lot of good points you just do to far at times and add stuff that is in no way needed and that is why you have been moderated adn why you don't get as much slack as others. I think you are a good posters you just need to learn to let some things go that are not worth it. Just my personal opinion of course.
As far as the OP goes yeah as a Sony fan you definitely go over board in most of your posts. It is like you just bash MS for the sake of bashing them. Most here know you don't like them no need to being it up or down them almost EVERY freaking time you post geez. Your posting habits remind me of Zero999, Flamingweasel, Blackgoku etc and they are all long gone.....

It's an unacceptable word because people made it that way (and different mods apply that standard differently. It's not an auto-ban for me, though it is a yellow flag to look at context). People figure out where the line is, and then they sit there dangling their legs over the side, long enough that we have to pull the line back. Look at the current controversy over "delusional." It got there because that became a popular putdown for other persons. |
But is it really a big deal that someone calls someone a Fanboy or delusional? These are just words, not an insult on the families honor.

It's all about "context" and how it is used IMO. You can't go to work and call your boss a "delusional fanboy" then use the argument that they are just words.....it's all about how it is used my friend. Not saying you in specifally I am just saying that in a general sense.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're tolerant, courteous, and patient, you can get along famously on VGChartz. If you're intolerant, abusive, and disrespectful, you'll probably find yourself on the outside looking in. It's not exactly rocket science.
As for the moderation on this site, I'm happy with it. Yes, sometimes a good user who loses his or her cool gets banned while a chronic instigator goes unpunished, but in general the mods do a great, and largely thankless, job.
| Ka-pi96 said: I gotta disagree. Maybe a little, as long as you also provide actual reasons, but definitely not much. Otherwise every other post here would be something like 'LOLZ Microsoft sucks', followed by 'LMAO Sony sucks more', and none of us want that right? |
Now that I think about it...this is true.
At the same time, most of us on here are better than that. Of course we have a few trolls but as long as you provide an explanation for why you feel a certain way I think it should be fine.
I just think some things are too strict. Example: I have to ask for permission to do an elimination game. Really? Why can't I just make a game whenever I feel like it? Yet, someone can make 25 threads about the Wii U failing...
If you must troll Xbox, at least make it something worth reading. Most of your anti-Xbox threads are so predictable (as most are here), I am surprised the mods are even awake to ban you after reading them. This isn't GameFAQs.
I dont really understand why this needs a thread,i do not see better behaviour in it and it comes over as an immature rebelious statement against this site.

Would love to have a "scumbucket" section in the forum where bitch slapping other idiots would be allowed.
