That's possible and I do not denying it. I probably miss also the Fire Emblem entry on DS. I got more interested over the DS/Wii-gen in console-gaming (before I played only on PC) and therefore probably missed a lot on DS. Would like to get more, I just recently got Radiant Historia. Anyways, even with Devil Survivor on DS, we have still Soul Hackers on 3DS. And SMT IV, which I didn't listed because it didn't reached europe so far. Also Persona Q. So 3DS still wins in this area. I never heard about 4 Heroes of light, will look it up (added it on amazon to my wishlist). Assuming they are both of similar quality this ends in a tie. Still 3DS is in big lead. Actually I wrote that I probably miss something: "I probably forgot one thing or another. Still 3DS has such a good lead, this will not change anything."

The main thrust of my post was to point out that there are multiple oversights. In the end a person may full well prefer the 3DS over the DS: in fact, I expect that will be the case for many forum posters. But a lot of the categories you listed are too incomplete to really justify any position, in my opinion.

For example, sticking to my earlier two examples, Strange Journey can be used to counter Soul Hackers (although it'd be better compared to SMT IV) if we're strictly sticking to Atlus SMT games, but if we broaden the definition to dungeon crawlers (as I believe we should) and SRPG games (as Devil Survivor and Soul Hackers are two entirely different genres) then we can now use Dark Spire, Wizardry, and Mazes of Fate (dungeon crawlers) as well as Might & Magic, FF Tactics Advance 2, Pokemon Conquest, etc.

Basically, we're going to need to be a lot more thorough if we want to present a thorough case.

The 3DS is a great console, but at this moment it´s still far behind the DS.
It was the remake of the Final Fantasy 4 what makes me fall in love with the DS, it was my killerapp :P
I´m still waiting for FF5 and especially FF6 to come to the 3DS u.u

well... the 3DS can do everything the DS could but more so.... yes...

Including playing GBA games, or games that use the GBA slot?

Yes. But I also present my position, and this is the thing, I liked more games on 3DS. Still I might overlook a lot. I also only presented games I like, I didn't include Ace Attorney or Professor Layton that are on both platforms as well, but these games might be important for other people. Even with the things I overlooked or don't know about 3DS is in comfortable lead for me. But this might be different for someone else, as other people have different priorities.

I bought 110 games for my DS.
I'm not kidding, check my profile if you need inspriration for DS gems you probably missed out on - such as Anno 1701, the Age of Empires games, Last Window or the JRPGs Nostalgia, Solatorobo and The Wizard of Oz, just to name a few.
And yes, I bought every single one of those 110, even the two or three that aren't games but mediocre language coaches. I don't pirate.

So far I think I bought 3 games for 3DS (OoT, Tales of the Abyss, Fire Emblem: Awakening).

It's an unfair comparison though in my case. I pretty much lost interest in handheld and console gaming this gen and returned to PC gaming.

Can you even list ten games from it that were great?

New Super Mario Bros.

Mario Kart DS

The World Ends With You

Final Fantasy IV DS

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Resident Evil Deadly Silence

Chrono Trigger DS

Super Mario 64 DS

Pokemon Black/White

Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

Kirby Canvas Curse

Rhythm Heaven

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow

I thoroughly enjoyed them all. That said I do prefer 3DS over the DS, but mainly because the 3DS is technically a DS as well. I'm not losing anything from the DS library by upgrading to the 3DS.

3DS has less games, but on average they are much higher quality. Having said that, it's not as though the DS(i) didn't have its share of decent titles.

DS Lite IMO is WAY better than the 3DS.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

I think the original DS had more must haves, amongst all the shovelware. With thatsaid, the 3DS offers better overall experiences. The graphics on the DS were very poor given it was running almost parallel to the advent of HD.
