If only this was a regular sales week not launch week for Xb one!

So PS4 may have beaten Wii U last week. And people say PS4 is dead in Japan but Wii U isn't? I hope PS4 can establish a >10k baseline when it starts putting games out that Japan likes. If the best selling console of the generation can't stay above 10k per week all is more or less lost in Japan for home consoles.

Thanks for the answer (also to DerNebel). So it is no valid point of comparison to Hyrule Warriors.

DW9 should be announced for PS4 at TGS. Should be first good comparison.

Other good ones are possible DQ Heroes or another new crossover like DW Gundam or One Piece?

Yeah.... that isn't really going strong...

100k is strong for japan, add in european and american numbers later and u have yourself a strong entry. 

But that's the total. It only sold like 4 or 5 k this week, that isn't 'going strong'.

The really good titles seldom become manstream hits. And for an excellent game, those are good numbers... Theres a reason why the masses buy crap such as watch dogs and destiny, its mediocore from head to toe.. Most consumers enjoy mediocrity.

Ah, I don't believe that. Japanese developers have a lot better relationship with Nintendo than in the past and Sony has lost some goodwill with the strong western focus of the PS-platform. Still PS4 sells pretty well in the West. So japanese devs will bring their games they want to sell in the West (Resident Evil, Final Fantasy) to PS4. Warriors sells only well in Japan, I can see a stronger focus on handhelds for the future of this series, like it happened already for Monster Hunter.

That'd be a stark change for the series. For all musou titles, they've always done better on consoles vs handhelds. Doesn't help that before the 3DS, a Nintendo handheld couldn't ever render the games like a proper Musou. Strikeforce is the best handheld comparison we got.

Yeah... that's not really true though. I don't know about Destiny, but Watch Dogs is a brilliant game. TLOU, Halo, GTA are also very high selling games and are among the best games ever.

Edit: Besides that, have you even played Hyrule Warriors yet? You would you know if it's good or not otherwise?


I can tell. I would say those titles mentioned all follow the same formula to some degrees... Or to a lot of degrees.. Either 3rd or first person shooter with insignificant tweaks added to differntiate itself from the others... Nothing new, creative, or innovative about such a standard approach to gaming. 

It boils down to difference in perspective, i found halo 3 campaign to be awful, and multiplayer fun for a couple of hours. GTA is okay while driving on bikes, but the 3rd person missions are a drag.. I recently downloaded assasins creed 4, played it for 2 hours, worst gaming experience ive had EVER! 

I bought killer 7 last year, incredible game and very artsy.. Skyward sword in 2013 as well.. Bought wii u at beginning of 2014, and pikmin 3, tropical freeze and mario kart 8 all excellent titles... Not the best selling games, but far far better than assasins creed which was a disaster, and if ubisfoft releases that kinda crap, i know to expect nothing from them.
