Dead Rising 3 (Xbox One) – 8/9/7/9

Forza Motorsport 5 (Xbox One) – 7/9/8/9

Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One) – 8/7/7/7

Crimson Dragon (Xbox One) – 7/7/6/7

Max The Curse of Brotherhood (Xbox One) – 7/8/8/7

Kinect Sports Rivals (Xbox One) – 6/7/7/8

Zumba Fitness World Party (Xbox One) – 7/7/7/6

The Hell? None of these make me think "God! What perfect games to launch in Japan!" Instead they all seem like Westernized games.

Am I wrong or is this the first nail in the coffin for the X1 over there? They still have room for more errors, but this was a serious mistake, unless I am missing something.

For what its worth, this is all games coming to Japan at launch according to Gamefaqs.

Multiplats don't really matter when its the last console to hit the region. For example, Japanese players had Ground Zeroes since March.

Just because Xbox isn't strong in Japan doesn't mean its no reason to try. Hell, MS should be pulling all the stops in Japan, they are in no position to discount any region no  matter how small or resistant it might seem.

That would be a waste of money. Even Sony making a minimal effort to maintain relevance there.

They should spend money on western markets. More sales potential there.

And about Japan being second biggest market? Not for home consoles. So it's irrelevant.

PS4 + WiiU + XB1 do less in a month in Japan than XB1 alone does in the US, let alone PS4.

Good that they took an extra year before releasing there. Did really boost their lineup.

Good. As a western gamer who doesn't care for Japanese games like I did as a teenager, I would rather them put more emphasis on games I would buy. Especially since there is the whole Japanese culture obstacle there that would make it very hard for MS to do shit in that market anyway.

They seem fine to me. What were you guys expecting anyways? Even the ps4 doesn't sell there so im sure Microsoft wasn't too concerned with the launch lineup.

Why would MS bother???

because it's still the 2nd  single largest market out there

But compared to the rest of the world its kind of a niche market.

Which is why Sony and MS don't bother catering to Japan. Most console games considered popular in Japan struggle to sell a million units there or even 500k.

Compared to western Europe and US, its a niche market. Compared to anything else, it's a massive market

Yep, and its just not a very important market to Sony or MS. They don't buy many home consoles and they aren't interested in the same software as the west.

Even if Sony and MS attempt to appeal to Japan there would be little reward.

Dismissal due to a Reality created from Dismissal.
Its better to try and fail rather than not try at all, and it perplexes me that money spent on timed exclusivity is seen as vital but money spent on enticing one of the largest markets is considered "A waste". Especially, when Microsoft has more money then its competitors.

I guess this is what Satya meant when he said Xbox wasn't a core part of Microsoft's business.
