Why would MS bother???

With that logic, why launch in Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway or any other country beside the big 8?

I think he means why bother spending money to get or create games Japanese gamers want.

Although, MS does have a few Japanese exclusives coming.

its obvious they already marked off japan as giving a damn about. which is the right thing to do from looking at history of sales there, it would be a waste.

The Hell? None of these make me think "God! What perfect games to launch in Japan!" Instead they all seem like Westernized games.

Am I wrong or is this the first nail in the coffin for the X1 over there? They still have room for more errors, but this was a serious mistake, unless I am missing something.

For what its worth, this is all games coming to Japan at launch according to Gamefaqs.

I thought Titanfall was a launch title. Hmm.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

because it's still the 2nd  single largest market out there

But compared to the rest of the world its kind of a niche market.

Which is why Sony and MS don't bother catering to Japan. Most console games considered popular in Japan struggle to sell a million units there or even 500k.

Well, that's much better lineup numberwise. But it seems that, aside for MS exclusives, all the other games have been available in Japan for quite some time.

I'm not sure if they expect to sell many copies of those...

Crimson Dragon and that's pretty much it.

Was this launch lineup a suprise to ANYONE? I don´t know the japanese market but it doesn´t feel like it will attract a huge audience. But wasn´t that expected aswell? :)

This would be the perfect time for MS to buy even timed exclusivity of a japanese IP since working with a Japanese Dev studio would take to long.

Just because Xbox isn't strong in Japan doesn't mean its no reason to try. Hell, MS should be pulling all the stops in Japan, they are in no position to discount any region no  matter how small or resistant it might seem.

That list can't be it, can it? I swear I read something about several Japanese games coming at launch. This can't be right...

Oh well, it wouldn't matter, it's almost certainly dead on arrival in Japan. For one reason or another, they're not trying with Japan. Maybe it'll come back to bite them, maybe it won't. But if Sony is struggling there, Microsoft is probably right to give up.
