It's a DDoS attack. It's not hacking per se, it's just overloading the PSN servers so they crash. I think

That's a what's called a buffer overflow.

No hes right a DDos attack is one in which many machines are used to overwhelm the intended device to cause it to crash.a buffer overflow is an attack where you fill up a systems memory so the buffer gets overflow and the portion that dosent fit in the memory (usually designed to be executed) gets executed. 9years Cyber Security in the Marine Corps for reference.
