Because having sex is normal and isn't a crime.

But its extremely immoral and wrong to cheat on your boyfriend/girlfriend, and prostitution is illegal pretty much most places, and this is prostitution

People cheat all the time.

Do you also have proof she sold her body for money? I don't see prostitution here.

I just see a lot of assumption based on the words of an overly obsessive ex who never had a real girlfriend before and went apeshit and did his damn best to destory Zoe Quinn.

I dont get why people are focusing on the sex so much and not the

attacking wizardchan, where a bunch of deppressed people are

getting ANY critisisms of her deleted (even if it's not hostile at all)

destroying a women's game jam so she could start her own

fabricating "hacks" to get sympathy. (Like when she said her parent's house number got revealed, but it was just the number for a hardware store)

managing to get absolutely no website to talk about any of this

etc.

Seeing people defend this person legitimately annoys me

Why does the OP have such a stick up his/her butt about gender equality? Like who cares? I don't even see how this issue relates to that at all.

Some people like to have sex. Others use sex for personal gain. Big whoop.

Yeah that game jam makes me want to throw the rare b word around. An honest to god nice thing a company was actually doing to promote females in the video game industry, and she closed down all their websites and social feeds because the little biatch wasn't happy with 8% revenue.

If people here could get an leg up on the competition to gain a promotion at work I bet many of them would.

Cheating on people is also shitty. It happens all the time but that doesnt make it good.

Why are so many people attacking her when
a) people should be attacking the journalists who sold their integrity for an organisation or two. The corruption of the media REQUIRES people in the media who are willing to be corrupted to work. The journalistic media, in theory at least, is supposed to hold itself to high standards of professional ethics so that attempts at corruption do not succeed.
b) all the shit that has gone down, including the apparent You tube take downs, are directly as a consequence of the misdirection of criticism onto Zoe instead of the game "journalists". This disproportionate response is IMO sexist, and worse is the fact that people are comparing the original issue with actual sexist behaviour.

If people had discussed the core of the problem: a corruptable gaming media, instead of the vitriolic vilification of Zoe Quinn, merely because sex was involved, then things would not have gotten blown out of proportion.

Zoe certainly seems to be deserving of criticism for some of her behaviour, but some of her behaviour is reaction to unwarranted judgementalism, so is understandable, albeit not justified. And other behaviour is actually none of our goddam business.

I'm going to paste a comment I made a few before yours before going on to address a few other things:

"Well, there has been a lot of backlash to the Kotaku writer and general backlash towards all of the other men involved. The main discussion tends to fall on Zoe Quinn for a few reasons. One is because so many people choose to defend her. Two is because there is a lot of other stuff going on around her (censorship and manipulation in addition to this) to add to this whole deal. Theres not a lot to talk about when it comes to the men involved other than general condemnation, but Zoe and the people who defend her give us plenty to talk about..."

If feminists hadn't immediately tried to make Zoe Quinn out to be the victim, maybe this could have been centered more strongly on other ideals, however, when legitimate criticisms and commentary are met with attacks that the writer is a "mysogynist" and so many people choose to try to protect Zoe Quinn (including but not limited to Phil Fish) using sexism as the shield, the discussion switches focus. This over protection of women and the championing of feminism (the toxic, modern kind) in the games industry is something that needs to be brought up, just as much as nepotism in gaming journalism, but it is much more blatant and obvious and it really can't be argued after all of the things that we have seen after this incident.

Yeah, let's believe the pyschotic ex boyfriend. Let us just assume she did things just as he says.

God Bless America. The country that says "innocent until proven guilty", meanwhile it seems these days it is "guilty until proven innocent".

I edited my previous post. Read the entire thing.

Well we already have confirmation that one of the people listed did sleep with Zoe Quinn and he posted photographic evidence, so its not like he is just making everything up. His words may be coated with an extra bit of malice but there is some truth in them. Others who knew Zoe Quinn have also testified that she can be manipulative and abusive of her status.

...this mentality isn't helping anyone. If you are totally fine with all of the problems in the industry, you don't deserve to be participating in a discussion of them.

If the allegations are correct then yes, she sold her body for positive press for her / her game. That is prostitution.

Watch the two videos (if you havent already) if you need evidence on what the ex says.

So we should believe her accounts (might I add she hasnt even denied the sex allegations) because she is a female?
#Equality
and the dude is psychotic because he wants to expose the money hungry woman?

On top of that, she admitted to raping her ex boyfriend (2nd vid)

What problems? LOL, it's video games ... they're electronic toys. What issues does the industry genuinely have that are really that dire? lol
