Forums - Gaming - Why are some people defending Zoe Quinn?

some women will use sexuality to get ahead in the world and they are smart for doing so. erin andrews comes to mind as well. it's basically prostitution, but so what? if they are willing to do this, it's no concern of mine.

Sorry, but it's that attitude that helps propegate more of this happening. Women (rightly) want a world where they are treated equally with men. Yet many also still use their "feminine wiles" to manipulate men to their advantage, and still want the "chivilrous" treatments that were bestowed in years past on disadvantaged (un-equal) females. They want their cake and to eat it too, basically. This does not go for all women, naturally. But the women who DON'T do this, should absolutely condemn the women who do.

You can either have equality, or not. There is no two ways about it.

Cheating on people is also shitty. It happens all the time but that doesnt make it good.

It is, but I could care less if someone cheats on someone else.

Why should any of us give a shit that Zoe Quinn and this guy broke up and she then fucked some other dude? His blog even states that they were on a break.

I agree, but still is not of our business. She can sleep with anyone.

Yeah that game jam makes me want to throw the rare b word around. An honest to god nice thing a company was actually doing to promote females in the video game industry, and she closed down all their websites and social feeds because the little biatch wasn't happy with 8% revenue.

You know not only Zoe Quinn walked out on Game Jam right?

Its well known she caused their collapse. She got their twitter banned. Read what they wrote, they tell the full story.

Or is it only women we can believe?

Yeah, let's believe the pyschotic ex boyfriend. Let us just assume she did things just as he says.

God Bless America. The country that says "innocent until proven guilty", meanwhile it seems these days it is "guilty until proven innocent".

I edited my previous post. Read the entire thing.

Well we already have confirmation that one of the people listed did sleep with Zoe Quinn and he posted photographic evidence, so its not like he is just making everything up. His words may be coated with an extra bit of malice but there is some truth in them. Others who knew Zoe Quinn have also testified that she can be manipulative and abusive of her status.

Who cares?!

What do we do now, arrest her for fucking another dude? That isn't illegal and his blog even says they were on a break when she slept with him.

What's next? You can't sleep with other people when you're on a break in a relationship because you still need to run it by the person you are not even with?

Jeez... let it go. She slept with another guy, or two, or three. If he didn't like it, just leave her. Problem solved.

What problems? LOL, it's video games ... they're electronic toys. What issues does the industry genuinely have that are really that dire? lol

We're moving into times where

1)More female gamers than there ever were
2)More females working in videogames
3)More females want to be represented (as well as gays/coloured etc.)

The discussions are happening whether you like it or not. Videogaming used to be classed as a boys hobby. And I agree there is harassment to a certain degree of females coming into the industry. Fine, complain. But dont use it to make money, and dont have double standards i.e. (complain about sexism harassment then go and sleep with someone for positive press for your game, close down a game jam and censor the people who stand up to you)

So we should believe her accounts (might I add she hasnt even denied the sex allegations) because she is a female?

and the dude is psychotic because he wants to expose the money hungry woman?

On top of that, she admitted to raping her ex boyfriend (2nd vid)

What does being a female have to do with anything? It's about getting both sides of the story.

You are just taking the word of an overly obsessive ex who after finding out she had sex with some her boss went and tried to destory her lively hood and also tried to destroy the life of the boss by telling the wife.

He is no damn saint himself. She fucked another guy. Grow up, swallow your damn pride and move the fuck on instead of going on a crusade.

I will have to watch this video to see how she "raped" him. What did she do, force him to have sex while he refused?

I don't give a sh*t what goes on at reddit and TheEscapists to be honest. 4chan and VGchartz are the only places I frequent who are caught up in the Quinn "controversy". Maybe this is a big deal on bodybuilding.com and somethingawful too, maybe it will have it's very own ytmnd page. Fact is that this started out with Quinn's betrayed boyfriend writing online that she fucked a Kotaku journalist behind her boyfriends back, AFTER the journalist had given her some publicity in a piece about indie developers. And then the journalist never wrote anything about her from that point on. (Note that journalists are perfectly free to fuck whoever they like, they just can't keep working with them once they've done it. So there is literally no proof of anything unethical taking place at all UNLESS someone can prove they fucked before he wrote about her. Which no one has been able to do)

That's it, that's the whole thing. That's what /pol/ took and got the ball rolling, and after two weeks of discussing this completely uninteresting no-name untalented indie developer, that's still all that is known about her supposed fucking corruption of Video Game Journalism.

The only reason this person has e-fame now is because people like you give it to her.

Now I ask you, why do you defend Zoey Quinn? The fact that the only threads you have posted in here on VGC are about her is very interesting indeed. If you think she's a nobody, why do you care?

Did you check out my handle?

Yes people like me who care so much about the life of Zoey Quinn. If you quit being so defensive, you'll realise I have not given MY opinion on Zoey Quinn EXCEPT that I said I think there is more than meets the eye because of her actions. The reason I replied to you in the first place is because I found it interesting how you constantly defend Zoey and try to shut people up because they do not agree with you. Saying things that this discussion should not exist because there is no proof and there never will be any proof or claiming people are a bunch of bored teenagers and other things I covered in my prevous posts. Your attempt at censorship and finger pointing is why this discussion is here.

Check your handle? I saw you here in this thread and in the other Zoey Quinn thread and looking at your low post count I quickly checked your profile. Is there an issue with that or my question?

Look, I'm probably a bit older than you, and remember a world before the internet, 4chan and VGChartz. In that world, there were pretty firm rules for what was news and what was rumour-mongering. To make a long story short, back in those days there was a pretty widely held opinion that mob rule was a bad thing and that allegations and accusations against people should be handled under a set of strict rules demanding a high level of certainty, and that the burden of proof was on the accuser, not the accused. Back in those days, these kinds of things went through the professional press - because there was nothing else - and stuff like this would never have been discussed because there is not much proof of anything beyond Quinn being a shitty girlfriend.

Call me an old fart, but I believe that way of doing things had its virtues, and the modern way of doing things where the burden of proof is now apparently on the accused has been shown time and time again to lead to not much good.To be perfectly honest, I'm kind of morally outraged, and feel that this whole business of the internet collectively poking into peoples private lives and harrassing them is kind of disgusting, and, maybe, a sign of worse things to come.

I mean, it's one thing if someone opts to post about their own dirty laundry online - then they should have known better. In this case it was Quinns ex who posted a bunch of stuff about her because he was pissed. And honestly, having read his blog I think he might have had good reason to be pissed. Quinn sounds like a pretty shitty girlfriend. But thing is, I had girlfriends who were shitty like that, and I have been shitty like that too, and in fact most people are at one point or another if they live long enough.

I don't want a world where anyone at any time is under threat of having their private life attacked by an internet mob if they at some point were shitty against some boyfriend or girlfriend. To me that is more threatening than the "censorship" you fear when you're not allowed to freely opine on what goes on in other peoples bedrooms. I guess that might be a generational issue. For me, my right to privacy is worth more than the Internet's "freedom" to come sniffing up my ass and check if I wiped it, my wife tipping you off disregarding.

Then if the reason the internet comes sniffing up my ass is some high minded bullshit about corruption in the game industry, whether it is in the name of libertarian principles, or if it's in pursuit of lulz (as they used to say), I don't care.

I'm not gonna say she can "sleep with anyone" because it's shitty. But that specific part is nobody's business, I agree. It's just one part of it though.
