I don't give a sh*t what goes on at reddit and TheEscapists to be honest. 4chan and VGchartz are the only places I frequent who are caught up in the Quinn "controversy". Maybe this is a big deal on bodybuilding.com and somethingawful too, maybe it will have it's very own ytmnd page. Fact is that this started out with Quinn's betrayed boyfriend writing online that she fucked a Kotaku journalist behind her boyfriends back, AFTER the journalist had given her some publicity in a piece about indie developers. And then the journalist never wrote anything about her from that point on. (Note that journalists are perfectly free to fuck whoever they like, they just can't keep working with them once they've done it. So there is literally no proof of anything unethical taking place at all UNLESS someone can prove they fucked before he wrote about her. Which no one has been able to do)

That's it, that's the whole thing. That's what /pol/ took and got the ball rolling, and after two weeks of discussing this completely uninteresting no-name untalented indie developer, that's still all that is known about her supposed fucking corruption of Video Game Journalism.

The only reason this person has e-fame now is because people like you give it to her.

Now I ask you, why do you defend Zoey Quinn? The fact that the only threads you have posted in here on VGC are about her is very interesting indeed. If you think she's a nobody, why do you care?

Did you check out my handle?

Yes people like me who care so much about the life of Zoey Quinn. If you quit being so defensive, you'll realise I have not given MY opinion on Zoey Quinn EXCEPT that I said I think there is more than meets the eye because of her actions. The reason I replied to you in the first place is because I found it interesting how you constantly defend Zoey and try to shut people up because they do not agree with you. Saying things that this discussion should not exist because there is no proof and there never will be any proof or claiming people are a bunch of bored teenagers and other things I covered in my prevous posts. Your attempt at censorship and finger pointing is why this discussion is here.

Check your handle? I saw you here in this thread and in the other Zoey Quinn thread and looking at your low post count I quickly checked your profile. Is there an issue with that or my question?

Look, I'm probably a bit older than you, and remember a world before the internet, 4chan and VGChartz. In that world, there were pretty firm rules for what was news and what was rumour-mongering. To make a long story short, back in those days there was a pretty widely held opinion that mob rule was a bad thing and that allegations and accusations against people should be handled under a set of strict rules demanding a high level of certainty, and that the burden of proof was on the accuser, not the accused. Back in those days, these kinds of things went through the professional press - because there was nothing else - and stuff like this would never have been discussed because there is not much proof of anything beyond Quinn being a shitty girlfriend.

Call me an old fart, but I believe that way of doing things had its virtues, and the modern way of doing things where the burden of proof is now apparently on the accused has been shown time and time again to lead to not much good.To be perfectly honest, I'm kind of morally outraged, and feel that this whole business of the internet collectively poking into peoples private lives and harrassing them is kind of disgusting, and, maybe, a sign of worse things to come.

I mean, it's one thing if someone opts to post about their own dirty laundry online - then they should have known better. In this case it was Quinns ex who posted a bunch of stuff about her because he was pissed. And honestly, having read his blog I think he might have had good reason to be pissed. Quinn sounds like a pretty shitty girlfriend. But thing is, I had girlfriends who were shitty like that, and I have been shitty like that too, and in fact most people are at one point or another if they live long enough.

I don't want a world where anyone at any time is under threat of having their private life attacked by an internet mob if they at some point were shitty against some boyfriend or girlfriend. To me that is more threatening than the "censorship" you fear when you're not allowed to freely opine on what goes on in other peoples bedrooms. I guess that might be a generational issue. For me, my right to privacy is worth more than the Internet's "freedom" to come sniffing up my ass and check if I wiped it, my wife tipping you off disregarding.

Then if the reason the internet comes sniffing up my ass is some high minded bullshit about corruption in the game industry, whether it is in the name of libertarian principles, or if it's in pursuit of lulz (as they used to say), I don't care.
