Sunshine 2 would certainly be interesting. I wonder how they would expand on the FLUDD abilities.
Also, a trip back to cel shading and voice acting would spice things up.

Or.. you know.. the 2 Mario games that I was referring to (3D Land & 3D World) |
I'd still consider the fact that it outright spawned another game (something that the others failed to do directly) with completely different mechanics an astonishing aspect of that creative success.

Sunshine 2. They shouldn't have released the Galaxy games so close together. Galaxy 2 felt almost like an add on pack to me.

Sunshine 2.
One mario Galaxy was more than enough, the second was not really needed for me.

Mario Sunshine 2.
It's the only mario console game (i don't play handhelds) that i never finished.

I wouldn't mind this, but prefer the Universe game.

Apparently, Mario Galaxy 2's code name was Mario Galaxy 1.5! Yup, I'm not joking!

I prefer new IPs than more Mario games. but between the two, Galaxy is easily better.

Personally, I'd rather have neither. I'm not really sure why, just because Nintendo did a Galaxy 2 (which they shouldn't have, because MG1 was far better), that now they fully expect Nintendo to just do direct sequels to their 3D Mario games. I want them to get off of doing that.
I want them to take a fresh approach. And honestly, I still want now what I've wanted out of a 3D Mario a long, long time: a 3D game where you are ACTUALLY running around the Mushroom Kingdom/World (not just a castle with magic paintings), where you can run around massive representations of, say, Grassland, or Desert Land, or Giant Land, Ice Land, etc. Even throw in a condensed Dinosaur Island, and have a hidden pipe to Sub-Con as a special bonus area (instead of the "Special World" concept). THAT is what I want. I want an epic 3D Mario that actually lets me run and play around in the same sprawling, crazy kind of world that Mario 3 and 4 (World) depicted. That's what I, as a longtime Mario fan, want to see.
It doesn't even necessarily have to be "open world". It just need to have huge, awesome levels, that are not just little strips of platforms on land or in the air, but are actually big, organic, sprawling 3D Mushroom Kingdom environments, with everything you could imagine under the Angry Sun in them. I don't know if that will ever happen, but that is what I want.
Regardless, what I don't want, is another Mario space adventure, or game with the water pack, or even another 3D World type game (or another castle with magic paintings for that matter). I want them to take a different direction, no matter what they do next.
No way... I thought it was going to be a 1:5 for Galaxy 3 but how wrong I was.....
Now I feel like I want to play Sunshine again!
