*edit*

Very crappy players, but just wanted to show, yeah, it's real.

SF x Tekken is pretty broken anyways.  Not even worth playing.

I am ready for another dose of Resident Evil, it cannot get any worst than 6, bring it on! I will buy day one as always =D

Gone are the glory days of that franchise (PS1 trilogy). It is probably my favorite "mature" franchise (1-CV) of all time but sadly, the end has come. It's time to put that baby to rest imo.

But RE4 was the best game in the series, and that came out on the Cube!

RE4 is the sole reason the series took a nose dive. It may have been a great game, but it was a new IP with the RE name slapped on it much in the same way SMB2 was back in the NES era. It looked, played and felt entirely different. There weren't even ZOMBIES in it. Yeah, think about that for a second. A franchise about killing zombies...without zombies.

Ridiculous.

They should have kept the original RE4 (what went on to become Devil May Cry) and made a new IP out of what released as RE4. This way, the series lives on and a new IP is born. It would have been a win win (until people got sick of the RE4 gameplay...like they are now).

This is Capcom we're talking about, so never expect too much from them!

I disagree with this entirely. Resident Evil 4 wasn't simply a new IP with the Resident Evil name slapped on it. It was the natural evolution of the series and the result of fixing everything that wouldn't have worked on the newer consoles. Also, the franchise wasn't about killing zombies. It was about bio weapons or B.O.W's.

In order to understand why Resident Evil 4 is the way it is, you have to understand why the older Resident Evil games were the way they were. The reason zombies took the main stage was because they were the ideal enemy for that type of game design and gameplay. Due to the extremely limited combat capabilities and pre-rendered graphics; slow moving, unintelligent enemies were the preferred generic enemy. A lot of emphasis was placed on puzzle solving because this was used to hide the fact that the old Resident Evil games were extremely short due to the limitations of the 5th gen consoles. When Resident Evil 4 came along, realtime 3D could be done which illiminated the need for pre-rendered preferred enemies. This also allowed for actual aiming. Having faster, smarter enemies in a full 3D environment allowed for new gameplay possibilities and new level designs. Puzzle solving was reduced to being placed in more natural points of the game instead of being used as an excuse to keep the player in one place for a long period of time as a means of creating artifical game length.

So in my opinion, Resident Evil 4 felt more like what a sequel should be rather than a rehash. It improved on everything by taking an advantage of newer technology while maintaing the core aspects of the series. Resident Evil was still about B.O.W's. Had they slapped the name on a new IP, we would have seen the supernatural, or aliens as the enemy. It was still about placing the player in impossible, hopeless situations where the player has to find a way out. It was still horror-themed. I also don't think people are tired of Resident Evil 4's gameplay. The thing is Resident Evil 6 truly was a mediocre game and did away with a lot of what made Resident Evil 4 great. Instead of trying to improve on Resident Evil 4, Capcom just ripped off all the popular Western games. Even the little things the RE4 got right like the camera controls, and the UI were clunky and messed up.

So Resident Evil 4 isn't the reason why the series took a nosedive. Shinji Mikami's departure is what led to Resident Eivl 4's downfall. After that, you had Resident Evil 5 which played it too safe, then Resident Evil 6 which took the seires in the wrong direction entirely. This decision by Capcom also goes against everything that Shinji Mikami used to do to make Resident Evil games great. He scrapped 90% of Resident Evil 2, causing the game to miss the holiday 1997 shopping season because he felt the game could be better. Resident Evil 4 was scrapped several times until he felt like he got everything right. Shinji Mikami understood that the right product combined with good marketing will bring success. Nowadays, Capcom relies more on brand names rather than making the right game.

1.5 years is enough. I don't think games should take more than 2 years to make.
