Is Destiny being touted as the GOTG?

No?

Hope that helped.

So glad I started calling it that, still gets reactions from people.

Anyway, I wasn't aware this was about personal hype, since you seem to be making it personal. In that regard, no, Destiny has never looked all that great to me so my hype progressed accordingly. Thanks, that did help surprisingly.

You're not the only one who labeled it as such. Sadly enough. But this is not about you. Although you did see Titanfall. And you clearly believed the hype. xD

What is it about Destiny that makes Playstation enthusiasts believe you must have ulterior motives to have a negative impression of the game. As if it's so good it is beyond honest criticism or something lol. Talking about posts like the one above and many more like it, or that thread.

That's rich coming from someone who can't even be honest about the hype his GOTG had. ¬_¬

Both games are clearly hyped like crazy. But it's quite obvious Titanfall was was more hyped than Destiny. It was hyped as the second coming.

"Have you seen Titanfall?"

"Believe the hype!!!"

"GOTG!" Even though it hasn't even started yet.

And so on...

Where was I dishonest about the hype Titanfall had? Titanfall might have had more hate here and in other forums as it was a polarizing topic, but Destiny has had much more hype. As it should, launching on 4 consoles, from Bungie, and the start of a $500,000,000 project by Activision.

You're confusing some peoples unrealistic expectations (aka bububuu "it's the second coming") with hype. Hope that helps.

Destiny deserves much more hype than TF. Think about it, anyone who owns a 7th or 8 gen console can play it, its the most ambitious game in years coming from one of the best devs in the industry. Now people have just played a snippet and out BLOWN away. Yes blown away by a Beta. 2 weeks ago it was on my "maybe" list now I am more hyped about it than any game in years.... got to go back to Zelda Twilight princess to find a game I was more hyped about (Huge zelda junkie). In fact I really have not been "excited" about a game in a while seeing as I look at it as a pastime/hobby.

I am sure TF is fun have not played it, but it was not available to a huge % of console gamers and sold itself as an innovation for the FPS genre (which I hear it is) Destiny is going be more of an evolution of the Genre. I literally spent the 1st hour I played in the "OMG what is this" mindstate.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Like..... your GOTG tagline? Yeah.... I don't think Hynad was confused at all. -_-"

GOTG is nowhere near as grand as some people say Titanfall was claimed to be. Second coming, savior of the Xbone, all these other things I never actually saw anyone say but were supposedly said. Either way, yeah, still not relevant to hype unless you're talking personal hype. In which case I bet you could find plenty thinking a niche game like Bloodborne will be the greatest game ever. I guess that makes it more hyped than Uncharted 4. Thanks.

After playing the beta: Yes. Yes it is.

What exactly is Destiny doing (besides shitty unbalanced PvP) that doesn't already exist in Borderlands? I guess it is certainly ambitious in terms of marketing investment. Gameplay wise it certainly doesn't seem so. It's nice that you were so blown away by the beta, I certainly dug some elements of it myself.

The PvP did not feel unbalanced to me. I keep here people say that, I did not see it. OCCASIONALLY the vehicles would get out of hand on the Moon(they already said they were adjusting that), but other than that I played as a Titan and while I did not tear up I held my own (1.0 to 1.2 K/D)

So to your question.

PvE- My brothers and I spend hours straight this weekend doing co-op was so fun, at once people we ran around killing stuff and doing quest in EX mode for over an hour straight before we went back to the tower to check out all of our Engrams. The gunplay is spot on and while soloing is fun, co-op is epic. The strike mission took the cake, about a 20-30 min mission where were coordinated to make things easier (I played Titan, and one brother played Hunter and other Warlock) I took out the trash my Hunter brother Sniped the harder enemys and my warlock brother kept me from getting overwelmed. Honestly it made feel like we were all back in our parents living room back in the day playing a game together.

PvP- We played 5 matches or so and were getting really frustrated because we were getting shredded, then it just clicked, all 3 of us stayed over 1.0 for the next 20 matches we played in a row (one brother is just good he was around 2.0 ALOT). I never really liked domination or control zones on other FPS games but had a blast in this one (more of a Deathmatch guy)

I played the beta and while it was really a lot of fun, it was nothing ground-breaking or "never seen this before". It plays a lot like Halo in terms of speed and general "feel" and while this is great, of course, it is not that "new" to many of us.
I believe some will see more into Destiny than there really is... I mean now Bungie makes a multi-platfom game after all the years they worked for MS. I get the feeling some now will want to make more out of Destiny to make it look like it even could outdo Halo, "the only exclusive MS holds".
To the hype: Activision has a high interest the game has a lot of hype because of all the money spent. But I doubt it's worth all the millions...

I agree there is quality stuff in the PvE but it's no different than questing in Borderlands with other people using different classes. Nothing really ambitious about it imho.

Idk what "it clicked" means but that seems to be the go-to response to people trying to explain how the PvP is not unbalanced. To me it is unbalanced because the supers are overpowered and in Crucible it's basically whoever has the fastest fire rate wins since most of the other stuff is evened out. Plus vehicles are a joke, but it's a beta, you can probably destroy them a lot easier with better stuff in the real game. If CoD had a beta with no launchers, UAV's would seem pretty unbalanced.

The PvP just seems like it was added for the sake of having conventional MP. It's beyond bad. Maybe other modes will be less chaotic and will allow for more than auto rifle and super spamming.

no. The PvP is teamwork based. Its not like CoD where you can take down 3 people easily if you flank them, 2v1 usually means the one dies, and maybe the 1 kills one of them if you suprise them, winning a 2v1 (as the 1) takes timing and skill. Stick with teammates makes it much more fun. The supers are not overpowered, everyone gets one and the more you cap the faster yours recharges.

Well to me "it clicked" means I learned the maps, and got used to the timing of the battle where enemies come from and how to be accurate while jumping and floating in the air, and got used to how long it takes to kill and enemy(at 1st I was not used to the rate they died so I was not finishing people well).

It may be overhyped but I don't think it's the level of titanfall if simply for the fact that destiny is going to provide a far more complete experience than titanfall.
