Forums - Gaming - Can we agree that PS4 graphics are in another level!

I'm not impressed by those skyrim pics, theres nothing special about high quality textures and some god rays and they most definitely aren't anything new. Skyrim was only taken to the next level once they started reskinning the characters that's where the biggest impact was felt. Those are fairly basic mods anyways and those arent video. Simply bullshots set up in a way to make the game look prettier than it actually is. I've modded the shit out of my Skyrim, i know what it can look like and I also know how terrible it runs when you truly go crazy and make it look truly next gen. Look  I am the ultimate gamer, I own every console dating back to the atari 2600 and I have a games catalog well into the thousands. I play consoles but I also play my pc on a regular basis and I upgrade my graphics card every 2 to 3 years. I also know that pc's simply can't hit that level of optimization because no one makes pc games simply to appease the 1% of pc gamers who can actually play them the way we all want to.

You've never truly lived until you've played Skyrim at Sub-10 FPS.

Then you've seen the depths of horror possible in this world.

Pre-downgrade I'd be inclined to agree, but retail release, no way. Especially if they released at the same time. Then again lighting, is much more important/noticeable for me then model fidelity. Ryse has better modelling but compared to ISS its diminishing returns, and if we are talking lighting, ISS wins that hands down, let alone reso, draw distance, particle fx, etc.

There are two levels in Ryse that set it apart from the rest, one is when you are wlaking through the forest, it looks simply amazing the other level is the whole night time battle where you are working yourway up to the demon king Glott.

It's a lot more than updated textures and god rays. If you didn't notice (you obviously didn't watch the full video), they completely redid weather, they upgraded the sky, the entire world is more lush due to the meshes for the plants being upgraded, etc.

Just because you are the "ultimate gamer" doesn't meant that you can be wrong sometimes. No one makes games just for PC, and that's where modders come in. They show what PCs are really capable of. And that was a last-gen game.

Why are you even comparing a heavily modded skyrim to next gen games like infamous second son ?

The video above shows that a heavily modded skyrim comes nowhere near close to the best looking current gen games ...

I'm comparing them to show that the PS4 is not, in fact, on another level.

And what next-gen game looks better? Ryse? At certain parts, sure, but taken as a whole it doesn't hold a candle to the detail in Skyrim with mods.

I may share the same sentiment that it's not on another whole level but your example is extremely poor for the most part ...

Doesn't hold a candle, eh ? Then do pray tell what a highly modded Skyrim does better than Ryse or Infamous.
