As long as its viable to continue a series, I don't see why a series "has" to end. We might not like the result of what happens when we think a series overstayed its welcome, but there's plenty of other games & series to turn our attention to.

I agree with a series should not have to end, I also agree that more series need to just simply take a break! UC4 will be the last one we see for awhile and I am ok with that IMO every game is gold!

Halo needs to a break badly! Halo 5 and another Halo project being announced along with the MC collection? That franchise is being milked hard!

Mario can keep on doing it's thing! I love Mario! Big fan of the side scrolling platformer!

Gears of War needs a rest after the last one, I loved the first two and it was the main reason I bought a 360 but it's draw is over for me!

The Forza franchise is being milked as well, and could do well with a break!

I can only comment on games that I have actually played and I strongly disagree with these two. Both the prince of persia and DMC reboot were the best in the series for me. I've played tons of hack and slash games and DMC is easily my favourite. Great gameplay, great voice acting, good graphics. I even liked the humour. It's as perfect as a game can get as far as I'm concerned. Prince of persia was absolutely beautiful and a great addition to the franchise.

Im well aware that gamers hated both, but in my opinion they don't deserve the critcism they got. From a business point of view, though, you're absolutely right.

Assasin's creed should have ended before it began.

Final Fantasy should have ended after VI.

God Of War shouldn't end yet. It has many hardcore fans like me who want it to continue.

As for your point about Kratos' story ending with 3, that doesn't mean the franchise should end. They can simply start a new trilogy with a new protagonist in a new mythology.

Also, Ascension was far from awful. It probably had the best combat in the series. Even MetaCritic gave it an 81 which is far from awful, though the worst score in the series.

I agree with all, except PoP! There just isnt enough of prince of persia these days.

I also think Cod , but it nearly did just before it got so popular! :(
oh and, Asphalt series.....never played a "good" game from them.EVER.

call of, fifa, madden, anything from rare post sale for MS.

But Final Fantasy IX was awesome..
