I love how human being complain about people in positions of power. They're called inadequate, or not right for the job, and then they reelect them anyways. Alrighty then!

Who said Iwata is inadequare, not right for the job... and then voted to reelect him in the end?

Please. Do tell.

#1 answer would be: what's a Wii U?

They don't even think about the size of the controller. And those who have used it are very happy with it.

It is $100 dollars cheaper than the PS4 & XBox One (and a typical Wii buyer doesn't really know which console is more powerful, and they don't even care).

A typical Wii user doesn't even know that some games are first party and others are third party.

Exactly. And if it was up to this guy, the Wii U would cause even more confusion, be less unique, and make people wonder why it needs to exist. He thinks the same people who bought a Wii, played the crap out of Wii Sports and Guitar Hero for a while, then let the Wii collect dust are dying to go back out and play the same game they haven't touched in years.

The only people who really care about power are people nerdy enough to regularly visit gaming forums like us. Every time I try to explain the difference in power to the average person, they either get confused or they flat out don't give a damn. The only time people ever noticed a difference in power was last generation with the game between Wii and 360/PS3.

And anyone buying a Wii or Wii U for casual titles like Wii Sports probably doesn't give a shit about third party support when they wouldn't be buying more than stuff like Just Dance, CoD and whatever other mainstream casual fad is out there.

Go out and ask your friends why they do not plan to ever buy the Wii-U. You will get exactly the above results.

However, as you can often read in self reports, most people that bought the Wii-U end up liking the tablet in eventually. But the fear that it could feel awkward and would not be fun to use is what potential customers scares away from the system.

If you spend a heavy amount of money on something you want to feel fully positive about it. If thinking about using the heavy tablet makes you feel negative, you will not buy it. And as everyone can see in the current sales data, people do not buy the Wii-U because they cannot imagine it could be fun to use the tablet controller.

The current Wii-U owners are a very small and unimportant minority, they will like everything Nintendo does no matter how good or bad it is. If you want to be successful you need to get feedback from potential new customers instead. And this feedback will be devastating.

Thats good to hear. I like him:)

I think people who feel Iwata should be fired is silly. If if Iwata should be fire for Wii U, then whoever did the Vita should be sacked right away.

That is not how it works. Proved so many times what a fantastic president he makes. His first launch was DS and then Wii and both were extremly successful and then 3DS is the best portable around and course we have the Wii U. Launch games didn't happen on time and launch didn't go to plan and it's impacted the Wii U, but clearly what your seeing is a sign of him getting back up and showing a huge amount of effort to bring the Wii U sales up. Mario Kart 8 started it, Wii U makes profits and E3 showed a very promising sign of what great titles we will expect not only this year, but 2015 as well. That doesn't sound like he needs sacking and sacking somebody does not take the issue away.

It's like people who moan about the GamePad, even though everyone who had a Wii U likes it, but we just wish more games made use and then games like Mario Maker, Splatoon, Toad's Treasure Tracker, Mario Maker, Project Giant Robot, Project Guard and Starfox comes in. I bet Zelda will make some good use for it.

Price is not the problem either because even when it goes cheap, people will still complain. Keep on until the thing is free. Sales in May show a perfect example that it's obviously not the issue.

Read this:

"Ironically, it’s in the midst of this jumble of technology that the Wii U, as muddled as it initially seems, actually makes the most sense. “The Wii U GamePad forces players to confront one of the strangest features of the contemporary media ecosystem: the tension between the television and the hand-held computer,” Ian Bogost, a video game designer and professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, wrote in an essay published on the website Gamasutra. Playing the Wii U feels awkward, he says, because having our attention divided between the TV and the Internet is awkward. But given this is where the living room is headed—most TV viewers already surf the web and check Facebook while watching their favourite sitcoms—Nintendo appears to be wholeheartedly embracing the shift, rather than fighting it.

Ultimately, that could prove far more innovative than a game controller you waggle over your head."

Guess where that came from....

Your very first link

Meh, he hasn't done anything stupid lately, so I'm neutral about this. I'm willing to give Iwata the benefit of the doubt until then.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube. What do these have in common? They were platforms that could produce games at, or beyond the competition at the time of their release. Do you know who was in charge and responsible for their release? Yamauchi.

Wii and Wii-U. What do these two consoles have in common? They are platforms that can't produce games at or beyond the competition. Do you know who was in charge and responsible for their release? Iwata.

I respect Iwata and admire him as a developer/producer. He helped create some of the best Nintendo games of all time. But as a president? I grew up in the 80's. I am a child of the 80's. My mother bought me my first console in 1986 and it was an NES. The Nintendo I grew up with had a different boss and as such, a completely different way of doing things. I liked THAT Nintendo's philosophy/hardware/software better as did the general CORE GAMING public. The NES and SNES are legend. The N64 was home to GAMES of legend.

Will we say the same for Wii-U in thirty years? I don't think so. So imo, Nintendo needs someone new at the helm. We need someone who has guts and takes risks. Someone more cutthroat like Mr. Yamauchi.

In Japan which is the only country where the Wii-U is no complete failure, Iwata released a Wii U Sports bundle:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E4%BB%BB%E5%A4%A9%E5%A0%82-Wii-U-%E3%81%99%E3%81%90%E3%81%AB%E9%81%8A%E3%81%B9%E3%82%8B-%E3%82%B9%E3%83%9D%E3%83%BC%E3%83%84%E3%83%97%E3%83%AC%E3%83%9F%E3%82%A2%E3%83%A0%E3%82%BB%E3%83%83%E3%83%88/dp/B00IKEVIX6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403891742&sr=8-2&keywords=wii+u

This is why I voted 'Maybe'. If he also drops the tablet and releases such a bundle in the west for $199 the Wii-U will overtake the PS4 thanks to the mass market. It is that easy to repeat the success story of the Wii.

Well, some people just don't learn :(
