Forums - Nintendo - I will only play Pokemon on a console

that is a little bit of pokemon in Unreal engine 3.

This would sell like hotcakes.

Of course it wouldn't. People would much rather play Pokemon on a tiny screen with tech from 15 years ago. It isn't like a console Pokemon game with a AAA budget would be Nintendo's sales equivilant to GTA or anything. Plus that's looks gross. Who want's to play Pokemon with advanced lighting, proper shadows, and a vast open world anyway?

Yeah I know right?

Open world is like the worst thing ever conceived in gaming! No one likes it, every open world AAA title sells like crap. The same with graphics. If we still had NES-like graphics, there would be a lot more people gaming today.

In all seriousness, if Nintendo spent 100 million on making an openworld, first person (except for the battles, i'm not sure how they should be. What would you suggest?) great looking homeconsole pokemon game, with a deep involving story, they would make a profit, just based on preorders, dammit!

That's the stupidest line of thinking I've heard yet. I'm not going to stop myself from enjoying any Pokemon content just because Nintendo's too retarded to modernize and one insignifigant protest wouldn't make a difference when 12 million others will still buy the next game in it's first 8 months because they, too, are not that stupid.

Clearly making Pokémon games exclusive to Handhelds isn't as "retarded" as you think.

Your angst against Handhelds is quite ridiculous, truly. They are perfectly good consoles that have hundreds upon hundreds of reputable games. Frankly, it's quite traditional and silly for you to think the Handheld is what is holding the series back - it's not.

There's nothing wrong with handhelds. I never hinted at having an "angst" for handhelds. I own more handhelds than consoles. Handhelds are NOT equal to consoles. They are lesser, complimentary devices. Handhelds are holding the series back. Pokemon can't be all it can be on a handheld. Again, you'll never get a Pokemon game with the scale of Xenoblade, and almost every single hand held game ever made would be exponencially better if they were made on a home console instead, with the exeption of games with handheld exclusive gimmicks like with Tearaway. Pokemon would lose portability and gain literally everything else.

Even then, Nintendo would just make a Pokemon Stadium-like 3DS app to let you take your Pokemon battles/trades on the go. Done. I just solved Pokemon and made it better for everyone.

Funny how they have no problem putting smash bros on 3ds but keeping pokemon from the wii u -_-. Haven't played a Pokemon game since gold on the gbc ... handheld anyway. It's either emulate or Ninty put it on Wii U same way they have no problem taking smash from home console to handheld.

Thanks jlmurph!

I'd much rather it be 3rd person, to be honest. I like being able to see my player.

And this brings us back to what Dengle said. Why does Pokémon now have to be like Xenoblade in any shape or form? If GameFreak wants to evolve the Pokémon series then they'll do it on a Handheld. What makes you think moving the series over to a Home Console will make it all of the sudden different? Graphical improvement is a non-point.

You made it worse. Now there is no longer an actual game for the Handhelds, just an app.

Hmmmm, have it like skyrim, you choose your perspective. Also, I'm not the biggest pokemon player (never owned a handheld myself) so how do you think the battles should be done? ofcourse this is all hypotheticals, but i'm curios.

Yeah, they're missing a big opportunity to build their userbase. They'd probably even beat MS and SONY this gen, because I know a lot of people that used to buy gameboys just to play pokemon and when they made Colloseum, those same people bought N64s. It's a no-brainer really. If they announced a real Pokemon RPG for the Wii U, I'd get one immediately.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

That is not as good as you make it sound. The aspect of portability is the reason the game became so much popular, the ability to interact with other people without the limitations of the home console. Even the upgrade of internet conectivity didn't deminish the importance of human interaction. How many people go to conventions and other events with their handhelds, just to play games in company? Would it be the same if you restrict the games to a living-room? It's the human factor the element that makes the game so appealing.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I never said here wouldn't be a handheld Pokemon game. I said there'd be a hand held app. Pokemon can't "evolve the series" on a handheld. Pokemon needs to be bigger in scale for the same reason that Zelda needed to and Mario needed to and Final Fantasy needed to and blah blah blah. Graphical improvement is not a none point when the technology to make it happen is at your disposal.
