Well, the way IGN described it, it really doesn't sound bad:

Like people have mentioned though, you likely won't be forced to play this way anyhow.

This again. Have you heard the phrase "so bad, it's good"? I think that's what they were aiming for with the controls. Imagine how boring the game would be with normal controls. The whole fun of the game is awkwardly controlling the robot.

People bitch about Nintendo when they do the "same old things" and the do the same when they "try something new". I mean at least get your hands on the game before burying it.

Hopefully he won't turn Star Fox U into Star Fox Adventures 2! |
I'd actually be extremely happy if it ended up as that.
Starfox Adventures was an amazing game

jumping back on the nintendo hate bandwagon cycle, that's what.
It's the Nintendo cycle, cant say good things about them for too long otherwise that upsets the balance. To balance it all out you have to go back to talking trash about them to make everything right in the world again

Well that's the whole Wii U's problem: a completely stupid concept from controller to hardware...
| KylieDog said: Of course they are, Nintendo have proven themselves to be stubborn multiple times, often to the detriment of its userbase. 'Technically impossibe' excuse is technically bullshit. |
You missed the point. The Circle Pad Pro was intoduced when development of Kid Icarus was nearly finished, even Sakurai himself didn't know about it until the Monster Hunter 3G reveal. Wii U Pro Controller, Wiimote, Nunchucks, etc. are all established control methods that been used in most other big Wii U titles, as has been mentioned by other several others in this thread.
It's certainly possible that this title will only allow for one control scheme, but looking at Kid Icarus not patching in new controls post-release is really poor grounds to make that assumption. Hence...not equivalent.

Thanks for that unbiased, useful and well-formulated contribution to this thread.

It makes you wonder if they knew the Wii was a great idea that worked well, or if they were seriously just throwing ideas at the wall like the Wii U except they got lucky the first time...
It is a unique concept for the GamePad, personally, I was hoping a Wii U Star Fox would use the Gamepad as the spot where your fellow pilots, allies and enemies heads would appear when they are talking, with an added bonus feature of being able to initiate conversation or issue commands by touching on their profiles while in combat.
This sounds, different maybe too ambitious but I will hold judgement and hope Nintendo and Miyamoto are able to pull it all off. Hopefully there will still be a classic controller option, as waving the Gamepad around for aiming sounds like more trouble then it is worth.
