Forums - Sales - PS Vita under 3.4k in the US for the month of April

It still seems to get  the support of pretty much every Indie developer (almost everytime there is a new indie game for PS3 or even PS4 it is also for Vita)  so that fans of the handheld will still get a lot of games even if these aren't expensive games.

Dang, why do my favorite gaming devices have to be such flops? I wouldn't mind so much about the overall world-wide sales... except that the Vita seems to be doing so much better in Japan (compared to other regions), both with sales and support. I worry about all the games coming to the Vita that won't make it to the West because it's doing so poorly. At least Freedom Wars and Oreshika are making it over :(

To be honest, it's quite baffling that Japanese developers are still trying to find success on the console, since, according to VGC, only a single game has surpassed even one million in sales, maybe three at the most if they're quite undertracked. Not that I'm complaining that the Vita is getting support... but it seems strange that they keep trying. Maybe the 3ds just doesn't provide enough power, and alternatively the PS4 is just too resource intensive and new?

The publishers and developers succeeding on Vita don't expect their game to sell a million copies . I know this is very stark contrast to Capcom, SE, and Larger western publishers.  So despite low numbers there are plenty of successes on Vita.

3DS is pretty much a flop compared to it's predecessor too..

Tablets and smartphones are destroying the handheld gaming market for sony and nintendo, and unfortunately for nintendo.. they are barely surviving with the Wii u

And unfortunately for Sony they are barely surviving, period.

Sony mobile and playstation are doing way better than ever before.. at the moment.. the rest of the company is half dead and is sucking the life out of those two divisions.. hence why the xperia brand is almost nothing in the U.S..... since they prob don't have funds to push it hard enough yet

Deary me.

sony mobile missed its own targets and made a pittance. Sony mobile will never ever ever by a huge success.  Accept it and move on.

The only part of sony's consumer electronics that makes money is playstation... Even that is irratic and underwhelming.

You're blushing.

Stores haven't had inventory in a while in preparation for the 2000. Not that the 2000 will light the world on fire, but it's not really an accurate measurement of demand.

If there was demand, there would have been supply. Japan is being kept stocked.

It has Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, FIFA, Persona, Need for Speed, Final Fantasy, Rayman, LEGO, Madden, Batman, Metal Gear...

I feel compelled to point out it mostly has spinoffs and late ports for many of the above franchises, rather than orignal A-team games.

That said, you're still spot-on that this support still far outweighs what Western developers are doing for the 3DS, which I believe now consists exclusively of Lego games and Adventure Time titles.

Like someone else said, this is due to supply constraints.

Indeed. They missed out on at least 8,000 more sales in this period.

This has got to be Sony's virtual boy ... They screwed up the vita beyond repair and quite frankly I would rather not see Sony enter the handheld market again unless their determined to win.

Sony, you don't compete to get OBLITERATED, you compete to beat the shit out of your competitors like you always did back in the PS1/2 days! You had potential with the PSP, Sony but you've squandered your image for handhelds.

Not even close. The system will still easily push 15 million LT and it has none of the evergreen IPs that Nintendo could have invested into the VB. I doubt that Sony wont find a way to break even on the handheld (Japan will most likely assure this)  and at the end of the gen it will have one awesome game library The image of the Vita was just fine, arguably on the same level as the PSPs, but its hard for a dedictaed handheld to survive this day and age :(

That, and while the VB is argaubly the worste hardware ever developed, the Vita is pretty much the oposite .

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

well that downescalated quickly.

bad for sony, but I really fear if EVEN the next Nintendo handheld will be able to do anything with all that phones and tablets.....

I predict 3ds can reach 100m.

Vita is getting games nearly every week by 3rd party in Japan it's not the case in West sometimes we don't get any games for severals month.

It averages at 1 physical release per week in Europe at the moment. I think US gets more physical releases too. It's Wii U that goes weeks on end without a release.

I'm on my phone atm so can't post the list. It's had a better line-up than the 3DS in 2014 though.

Makes sense, finding a new one was impossible since sony sent no shipments.
