Forums - Sales - Xbox One won't catch PS4.

Unless the Kinect is discarded and the price bought to around 100 lesser than PS4, I don't see it happening either.

well PS2 dominated Xbox despite being alot less powerful. The generation is Young and alot will happen, in favor of Sony or Microsoft.

Truth be told, the PS2 dominated because it was out first, had a huge install base, huge library of games and the lead platform for developers.  All of those pieces is what made the PS2 the console to get even though it was the weaker console.  Since the PS4 and X1 are launch at the same time, the X1 does not have none of the benefits the PS2 had during its run.

Anything can happen during the run the PS4 and X1 will have in their lifespan.  MS would need for Sony to make some serious blunders like MS did during the 360 era.  A RROD/YLOD situation would be on that type of order for the X1 to gain ground.  Having a slew of big AAA games that actually sell like Halo would be another.  Either way, it will be a huge effort for the X1 to overtake the PS4 simply because Sony has a better presence around the world than the xbox brand.

Don't care. I just wanna see the X1 continue to perform better than Wii U and hopefully get a userbase at par with the 360 or better.

It doesn't need to be ahead of PS4 to get great support.

Totally agree with this statement.  The X1 can be totally successful without actually selling the most hardware.  I am sure at the end of the day, MS is more concerned that they have a successful profitable product then selling the most hardware.  I am also sure that even though Sony sold a hell of a lot of PS3s, its not going down on the books as a success.

The whole reason why the XB1 is selling at 399 is because the XB1 couldn't outsell the XB1 while including Titanfall so they had to drop the price. Their better launch line-up couldn't help. All the changes Microsoft made it to be competitive. It is a good thing because now Microsoft is more humble than arrogant with their success with the 360.

Now games will make the bigger difference. It will be interesting to see how lasting Microsoft's PR nightmare have an effect on their sales and see what both Sony and Microsoft have in store at E3 which will definitely impact sales. In the end, there is no way Microsoft will take Japan or Europe. Europe could sale twice as many XB1s, they still would sale less at this point. The ratio of sales been 3:1. I don't need to mention Japan. In the States, Sony had been winning. I think Microsoft could possibly sale more but not the numbers they did with the 360.

@ Bolded:  I do not agree with this statement.  First, Titanfall would need to be the type of AAA game that appealed to a mass market.  Even with the hype Titanfall received it still was a niche type of FPS on the X1.  Its online only with no Single player.  That right there killed a lot of people being interested in the game.  It required you to have GOLD which is another invested that killed sales.  There is a list of other things the game did not have or accomplish and its review scores were not AAA level to make it a must buy.

I personally believe Titanfall and the 50 dollar drop is the same tatic MS has used many times before to keep console sells going but not something they were going to do permanently.  I believe MS dropped Kinect because it was not a good selling proposition overseas.  The device support overseas have been spotty at best and considered holding down sales where Kinect never really offered a lot of value.

Xbox One couldn't outsell the Xbox One? Interesting.

I won't say I don't care, I do a little we all do (otherwise we wouldn't be on a sales website). But I do agree I just want the Xbox One to sell well and maybe even get to 360 numbers and great support is a given really (well except Japan, MS will probably have to put some serious effort into that reigon)

Yes, what gems I will be missing out on ;)

Well the big Japanese developers will be multiplatting their titles. Dead Rising 3 is an exclusive, which surprised me. MS will make deals like always.

The only way Japanese Developers would be exclusive to MS at this point is if they developed the game with MS money, cause they aren't going to sell well regardless. They might as well get paid.
