Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Destiny, Watch dogs, FFXV and The Last guardian will flop. [UPDATE]

I wish there was no difference between Borderlands 2 and Destiny. Then maybe Destiny would look fun.

- FFXV : Final Fantasy is a dead brand by now. It still can sell copies, but unfortunately FFXV is somewhat linked to FFXIII in mainstream audience's mind. Even from intersted gamers, FFXV is still versus XIII. This game has been made to be FFXIII mirrored version, made by the same company. Even if they scheduled to release on different time, people will never forget those two games were created at the same time. I have seen trailer, I have seen gameplay video, I was hyped as shit since the first trailer of this game. But time has passed, something like 8 fucking years. Gamers are waiting like dead starving werewolf around the corner, and this game is a sheep. FFXV is the last chance gamers are giving to the main FF license. Gamers and critics will not forget a single framedrop.
From what I've seen of this game, everything seem to screen previous generation. Corridor, closed space, loading time between map, crappy animation, cheesy dialogue, ill at ease kind of cutscene, no sensation, shitty storytelling quality... And I truly hope I am wrong because if you can fight like the first trailer show us, it would be enough for me. But I don't know if that would be enough for the werewolf inside of us all who want to eat Square Enix alive for all the bad they've done.

The creators of this game had nothing to do with FFXIII with the exception of Nomura so saying that XV will be a failure because of XIII is dumb.

FFXV is going to be everything the past 3 FF games weren't, a true FF game with Type-0/KH mix combat.

XV is already confirmed open world with drive able airships and vehicles with your classic enemies such as behemoths and leviathans. The story is going the route as the older FF games, a story about crystals, which is fine. And Nomura is directing so the story can't be all that shitty.

The game didn't start development until 2011. That's 3 years, not 8.

I won't comment about the shitty animation.

Seems like the last "talent" at SE is making this game.

FFXV will definitely not flop. Japan will buy millions of that game and it will be a success in Japan alone. So far, fans of Final Fantasy are still hyped for the game and since it's pretty much Final Fantasy Kingdom hearts(KH, which is more popular in the west than FF), then I doubt it'll sell lower than 13.

"2.5 million plus sales in less than 2 months, a flop? Its like dude, do you even think. "

i'm a PS4 owner, never liked Xbox, but Titanfall is amazing for a FPS. So, yes 2,5 millions is a flop to me for this kind of game. It the only interesting next gen title available now and still it struggles to reach Tomb Raider past-gen sales, wich was a comercial failure for SE before reaching 5 millions copies sold.

"Again, when people make these kinds of threads, I feel like they should explain what a flop means in context of the game. TLG is not an expensive game and doesn't have to do big numbers to be a success."

SOTC was an expensive game. Don't see why it would be different for TLG.

But you're right. To me a flop would be :

- 3 millions copies sold all plateform combined for Watch dogs.
- 300 000 copies sold for TLG.
- 4 millions copies sold all plateform combined for Destiny.
- 2 millions copies sold all plateform combined for FFXV.

There are 4.5 M Xbox One sold and Titanfall has sold 1.6M (VGchartz numbers). Titanfall has an attach rate of over 30% on X1, thats a flop for you?

Please stop writing dude or at least read what you write before posting

Western RPGs are to rule. Games like Final fantasy that are still stuck in 90s turn based era needs to go away. Industry needs to get rid of these garbage.

You do realise FFXV isn't turn based right...it has faster paced combat than most western RPGs you can name.

I hope its true. But given SE track record and recent patent makes me wonder, shall I get bluffed like so many times in past? Nope.

Here is the patent.

Wow is amazing how you people just spout whatever comes to your mind, FF15 has the Kingdom Hearts battle system and is made by the same guy Tetsuya Nomura. Turn Based isn't garbage by the way is just another form of gameplay the fact that you don't like doesn't mean is garbage.

Sounds like you'll do different animations and different actions depending on the distance between a player and a enemy, I don't understand whats wrong with that?  Kinda sounds like what they have in the Batman Arkham games.  Doesn't really have anything to do with turn based games.

Bravely Default and Child of Light are so awesome and the RPGs of the future. The crappy real-time action "RPG" stuff has to go away!

We will see. If they do implement kingdom hearts like battle system, good story and dont force annoying characters (Vanille comes to mind) then I will give it a shot. About turn based mechanisms, thats my opinion. I do respect your also (Ni no kuni was great). But Final fantasy XIII's auto mechanism taught us "most of the" JRPGs are still in 90s. Good to hear you like turn based games. But dont force your opinion over me.

So Nintendo shouldn't release X? :P  I love both and hope both have a healthy future.
